What an absolute treat. Gatoloco, who is an occasional visitor to Bristol, has absolutely knocked it out of the park with this outstanding piece of writing. The letters spell KASO, he appears to have dropped the ‘E’, but maybe that was all he could fit into the space.

I think that Gatoloco might be my favourite writer outside the city of Bristol. He brings so many design elements into his work, without it looking busy or fussy. I love the stripes on the letter ‘A’, a theme he has adopted in other recent pieces (a quick squint at his Instagram account revealed). The piece can be roughly dated, by the shout-out to Gaza. Fine work from the visitor.

Visiting artists are always welcome in Bristol, and there is something comforting about artists who return, having painted some time in the past. Gatoloco has painted in the city before, but recently he left this lovely piece alongside the M32.

Gatoloco has a very distinct style of chunky letters (KASOE) which in this piece sit over the top of what looks like some other letters, possibly ESK? Or perhaps I am over-thinking the whole thing. I am not usually a fan of browns in graffiti writing, but I think that Gatoloco has done a great job, and there is enough of the blood-red fill to lift the piece from its browniness. Great to see Gatoloco back in town.

The visist to Bristol by Gatoloco yielded two wonderful pieces, of which this is the second I have posted. It really is a beauty in both colour and form, and there is also a story going on with a gun being held by the hand at the end of the ‘K’ and a long string of bullets underlining the whole piece.

I was rather hoping that Gatoloco would be something of a longer-lasting fixture in Bristol, but I am guessing it was a fleeting visit. I’m not sure where the artist is from and their Instagram feed reveals very little. Nice to see things like this, and Bristol is definitely a draw for visiting artists contributing to the vast spectrum of great art in our city.

The long wall at Dean Lane plays host to a great many great collaborations, and this one is no exception. Two of there artists, Rusk and Turoe One are familiar to me, but the third, Kasoe (Gatoloco) is reasonably new to me .

Starting off the collaborative wall is the familiar writing of Rusk which has been really beautifully done. His horizontal shading gives the whole piece the effect of being a glistening gold bar or something like that, and the depth created by his 3D shading is really well done. The whole piece is set on a cosmic background with a bit on an electric storm going on. Great stuff as you’d expect from this artist.

Next up is a terrific Iron Man character piece by Turoe One, an artist who has been decorating walls for more than 30 years, but whose work has been almost off my radar until recently (how does that happen?). There is little to say about the Iron Man figure other than it is utterly awesome.

On the right hand side of the collaboration, and perhaps a little bit discrete from the other two is this very distinctive and beautifully painted writing from Gatoloco who writes Kasoe. There are elements of other styles in this piece, such as 3D shading reminiscent of Inkie, but the whole thing has a strong and clear identity and is very easy on the eye. I have seen at least one other piece from Gatoloco and will be looking out for more.
