Another fabulous stencil, this time by Dice 67, an artist from Cheltenham, and one that I blogged about in August 2015. His work then was sprayed as part of Ufest 2015. This piece is quite different, lurking in one of the tunnels of The Bearpit.

An Instagram conversation with Dice 67 revealed that he only sprayed this on Saturday (four days ago) and by Sunday, when I photographed it, it had already been tagged by DBK. I do wonder if DBK are pushing the boundaries of graffiti etiquette at the moment. Anyhow, at least I got a reasonably clean snap of this really technical piece of work.

I love this work, in particular the signature on the spray cans.
Really good stencil. I think there is something very ironic about the fact she is proud low achiever and she is thinking about DBK. The DBK tag isn’t all that bad–but the other stuff. I could do that. Give me a fat cap and see me write.

I will be looking out for more of his work. He tends to combine stencil work with freestyle and the result is great. The thought bubble made me chuckle.

“I do wonder if DBK are pushing the boundaries of graffiti etiquette at the moment.” Just personal feeling, there really no difference if one went into a gallery and painted one’s initials…it is disrespecting the artist. Would seem to me DBK is a bit narcissistic, using other’s work to draw attention to DBK.

DBK are simply taggers, it’s what they do. There is no attempt to create art, only to make their mark. Maybe one or two may graduate. It is all part of the mix. A shame though when they screw things up.
