I am Stephen. I live in Bristol, UK. I decided to shorten my profile...to this: Wildlife, haiku, travel, streetart, psychogeography and my family. Not necessarily in that order.

Wow, a month? That cat must be very happy to be home.
Hyperactive thyroid. losing weight, poor condition, fast heart rate and slightly neurotic. They gave her a radioactive injection…hence not being able to see her for a month – she has come back roughly 25% heavier, her coat is stunning and she seems much calmer. A great success. we missed her and she us.
Ah, I had a cat with that condition. I rubbed meds in her ear twice a day for years. It is a devastating illness that just sucks the life out of them. I can’t remember what medication it was, I’ve blocked it out, as it was one of the most stressful times in my life, taking care of her and watching her deteriorate. Ultimately, we had to let her go, but I would never prolong that kind or any condition again once it became a touch-and-go, with miracle reprieves. I’m sure it knocked off a few years of my own life.
I hope this gives your cat a few more years with a good quality of life.
Oh, I’m sorry about your experience. a lifetime course of pills was an option. They say she will now lead a normal life. This kind of intervention is relatively new and very expensive. lucky we took out pet insurance. There are only 3 centres in the country that offer this treatment and one of them is in Bristol.

It was an option for us here as well, but we couldn’t bear to leave her for that long. I’m glad to hear it’s working for your cat though.
