I am Stephen. I live in Bristol, UK. I decided to shorten my profile...to this: Wildlife, haiku, travel, streetart, psychogeography and my family. Not necessarily in that order.

Haven’t had a wardrobe for absolutely years
Have had a rather fine double clothes rail fitted into an alcove that works really well
I think the sad part is not being able to find a new home for it as there have to be struggling families who would have loved a ‘new’ wardrobe buy unfortunately these are the times we’re all having to live through . . .

It was tough getting rid of it. It belonged to my grandparents. Lots of sentimental value.

Ah yes those things that we feel we shouldn’t get rid of but have absolutely no need for.
You did the right thing.

We did try to give it away to a lovely couple, but we couldn’t get it out of our house. So they left and I broke it up.

It’s a bit sad getting rid of things with sentimental value, but someone else may put them to better use. Plus, you gain more space!

Space was the driver. Old wardrobes were built for a time when people didn’t have so many clothes. What does that tell you about our modern lifestyle?

I think modern man has also gotten thicker around the waist and bum, so more material needed might be the issue, too. 😉
