It took me a long time to get round to photographing this lovely piece of writing by Stivs, and when I got to it, the far right hand side had been ever so slightly overpainted by Elvs, but in a respectful way.

Stivs has been knocking it out of the park over the last year, with each piece seemingly more complex and ornate than the last. His calligraffiti style of writing is so pleasing to the eye, but far less forgiving of mistakes, because of the uniformity of the letter style. A magnificent technical piece, painted for a friend’s birthday, it can’t get much better than this, or can it?

I am definitely struggling to keep up with the volume of work that Stivs is producing these days, and I still have some real corkers in my archive that are under serious threat of not making it onto Natural Adventures at all. I need a quiet period when I can dig out some of these nuggets and publish them.

This recent piece is one of two, side-by-side in one of Stivs’ favourite spots, and as he is inclined to do these days, he has gone ‘big’ with both. His calligraffiti style has gone quite Gothic on us with this piece, but the letters are clean and clear, spelling out STIVS, where the ‘S’s have reclined slightly. Yet another tight piece of graffiti writing from this tireless creative talent.

Another absolute belter from the unstoppable Stivs on the M32 roundabout. He really is going through an incredibly productive and inspired period… long may it last. I often wonder, when artists are so prolific, how they afford the paint, because it is not cheap to paint a wall this big.

This calligraffiti piece is notable for the exceptionally brilliant fill that is not only beautiful, but also has the appearance of being a piece that has been painted over… clever stuff from Stivs. As with so many artists in Bristol at the moment, Stivs seems to be hitting a new level, and shows no signs of letting up. A masterful piece.

4023. M32 roundabout J3 (355)

Stivs has been working overtime of late, painting pretty much every week, and each time turning out something of great interest and style. This recent one, whilst visually attractive, might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Stivs, M32 roundabout, Bristol, October 2021

Spelling out DogShit, I suppose what this piece does is challenge us to accept the word through the beauty of the writing, and believe me, this is a very classy piece of writing. Stivs just seems to be getting better and better, and he switches up his writing style all the time, keeping things fresh. The vibrant colour selections work really well, and there is still a touch of calligraphic strokes to the letters. A very nice piece indeed.

Seeing tribute and birthday pieces is always great to see, and it demonstrates the joy of painting for others, that selflessness that is a common trait in many street/graffiti artists, at least in my experience.

This piece for Shosh by Stivs at the entrance of St Werburghs tunnel is an absolute beauty and shows just how wide Stiv’s range of calligraffiti is. The pink lettering looks like it has been applied with a wide paint brush, but is actually really nicely finished. Great shadows and decorations. A lovely piece that is very easy on the eye.

3965. Alfred Street (10)

It has been a long while since I last posted a piece by Todoaciem, so it is with some pleasure that I am able to share this wonderful piece of calligraffiti painted at the ‘Dare To’ paint jam a few weeks ago.

Normally we would expect to see the letters CIEM, but here he has written HMR, the letters of his crew. His letters are always so neat and uniform with a lovely deep 3D shadow that helps the whole thing to stand out. Unfortunately, the white paint is a little thin, but all in all this is a skilful piece of writing.

3959. St Werburghs tunnel (258)

Stivs has presented me with another golden opportunity to feature his work on Natural Adventures by painting this cracker in St Werburghs. His calligraffiti writing is improving with every piece, and this is an outstanding example of what he is capable of.

Painted in black and red with a blue border, the letters have the appearance of having been painted with brush strokes – an effect perfected by Voyder in some of his Bristol works. There is so much to like about this, particularly the crispness and the thin yellow lines running through the piece. Lovely stuff.

3936. Sparke Evans Park (8)

Not long ago, I said that Stivs was rather underrepresented on Natural Adventures. This post is a deliberate effort to address this imbalance, and there are more pieces in the pipeline. This piece was painted in Sparke Evans Park alongside Counterfits and Maesyhook.

The beautiful calligraffiti spells out ‘Dirty Soul’ and is composed of large red letters with some nice pink shading on the upper surfaces and a black surround, set on a background of tiny white grid work, which must have taken a while to paint. A high quality piece of writing.

An artist who seems to be going from strength to strength with his superb caligraffiti is Stivs, who I always think is slightly underrepresented on Natural Adventures, a situation that I must remedy.

I went back to this spot yesterday to re-photograph this gorgeous piece, because my original pictures are slightly out of focus. I haven’t processed the new pictures yet, but when I do I will replace the originals. The brush-stroke calligraphy spelling out STIVS is sensational, and the colour selections of black and red will always draw attention. A very fine piece indeed.
