4116. Catherine Mead Street (3)

This is the third piece I have posted from this favourite wall of mine in Bedminster. It is also another example of the great work from Tack Jucker, who has embedded himself quickly into the Bristol graffiti art scene with relative ease.

Tack Jucker is an artist who seems to enjoy painting wildlife, and in particular monkeys and apes, and in this respect he shares an interest with Nightwayss. Now I’d love to see a collaboration of monkeys from these two.

This piece from Tack looks a lot like a chimpanzee, with a rather aggressive expression, and sharper than normal teeth. The absence of pupils in the eyes, gives the character a bit of a distant and ghostly look. This is a lovely piece painted in pink and rose shades and is as good as anything else I have seen from the artist.

This is a lovely piece from Nightwayss sprayed as part of a paint jam, which, on reflection, I perhaps ought to have posted as a bundle or collaborative wall, but I didn’t, so there.

In recent months Nightwayss has been experimenting with these fragmented pieces, playing with portraits, light shapes and disassociation. The overall effect is a contemporary take on street art and really brings out the fine artist in Nightwayss. Alas, there are no monkeys in this piece, but it is nonetheless a really interesting and challenging piece of art.

4065. Catherine Mead Street (1)

This domestic wall was first painted during Upfest 2018, when a few artists clubbed together and had a paint jam on this unofficial space. I believe they had the permission of the owner to do it, and these pieces remained in pretty good condition until fairly recently when they were on the wrong end of quite a lot of tagging. Recently, several artists, including Laic217, Nightwayss, Tack Jucker and Zake, refreshed the wall to great effect, including this fine piece from Laic217.

Laic217, as regular readers will know, is a particular favourite of mine and this piece is a reversion to some of the recurring themes seen in his work. The brick wall glasses, the ghetto-blaster, the bucket hat and of course, skeleton, all point towards it being a Laic217 piece. The colours are a good match with the fairly benign purple backdrop helping to lift the gold colours incorporated in the character.
