It took me a little while to work out, but should have been obvious from the start that Sub and Bloem usually paint together, and this collaborative space on the roundabout was adjacent to another that they were painting as I photographed this one. It is great to see two young artists out there pushing boundaries and practicing their skills.

To the left, Sub has painted another of his distinctive pieces with very large letters, lifted with a thick drop shadow and accompanied by some wispy smoke, in the Mr Klue style. On the right, Bloem has painted a hand, as she likes to do, holding a pair of her trademark cherry devils (with smiley faces). Although the two pieces are discrete, they share a cloudy background, and there is a suggestion that the hand emanates from Sub’s ‘B’. Always good to find their work.

Almost a month late, but better late than never, I am sharing this wonderful Halloween piece from Bloem (Hiccup). Bloem has brought something different and rather special to the streets of Bristol, with her simple, yet creative ideas beautifully crafted.

What’s not to like about a spooky skeleton hand, complete with pink nails (of course), holding a fused pair of devil cherries with a smiley face on each. Slightly bonkers, but also great fun. I am very much enjoying Bloem’s contributions and look forward to the next ‘surprise’ she has in store.

The paint jam at Dare To a couple of weeks ago really did throw up some fantastic work from an ‘A’ list of Bristol artists and it would seem that each artist bounced off the next to up their game a little.

This is a cheeky number (getting into the spirit of the adult nature of the Dare To club) by Smak. Tucked away, and slightly awkward to photograph, this bright and colourful piece includes a little devil complete with cherries on his pants. The writing is typically top quality and has that double letter style where each letter seems to have been painted twice over. More excellent work from Smak.
