On one of my recent and rather infrequent walks to work, I came across this piece by Lucy Danielle and I think curated by Global Street art. I have inly seen her work once before (I think) and that was in Leicester last year, as part of the ‘Bring the Paint’ festival.

In this large mural, Lucy Danielle has combined some abstract illustration with a portrait that is split in the middle, with one half being photorealistic and the other a comic-like illustration. I can’t tell if the graffiti on the GWR train is part of the artwork, or has been artfully added by a tagger subsequently. The whole thing is a bright and colourful addition, in this tucked away street.

Earlier this year I travelled to Leicester for a Team Meeting and managed to pick up a few pictures of street art, much of which had been painted at this year’s ’Bring the Paint’ festival. Rather than concentrate too much on each piece, I am going to present a mini gallery of work from the visit.

This might be the best Mr Cenz piece that I have seen anywhere. It is clean, crisp and vibrant, and uplifts the bus station beyond all recognition. An absolute stunner.

Nuno Viegas painted this piece this year and it is not too dissimilar to one he painted a couple of years ago in Leicester for the festival. A classy ‘paper aeroplane’ piece – a theme that runs through much of his work.

I don’t know much about Verna Poppy, but rather liked this piece that was in good company with Inkie and Philth/N4T4 adjacent to it.

Another artist I have not encountered before is Lucy Danielle who came up with this abstract photorealistic mash up. A beautiful design. There is so much great artwork in Leicester, and well worth a visit.

2717. Dean Lane skate park (274)

Finding a piece that is not only from a new (to me) artist but is also rather different is always one of the great pleasures of being a graffiti hunter. On the famous curved wall at Dean Lane, this delightful portrait appeared a couple of weeks back. It is by artist Lucy Danielle who is a midlands-born Bristol-based illustrator and graffiti murallist. Although she has painted quite a few walls, I don’t think I have knowingly ever seen one before.

I understand that this is a portrait of her sister which is a really nice thing to do. Set on a black background, the face really stands out, and the additional decorations help the to fill the  space without distracting from the subject too much. Imagine how different the whole thing would look without the purple circle and yellow squiggles. I need to find some of her other work.
