This is an absolute beauty in the tunnel by Inca the Mole, possibly the best I have seen from the artist. The colour selection is really nice, and the mole lettering combination works so well.
There is a great balance in the piece, and of course the mole is beautifully painted with plenty of character about him. There is a lovely shout out to the RBF crew, who often hold paint jams in the tunnel, and Inca the Mole might have painted over one of their pieces. All good stuff.
Sometimes, when a piece has been tagged, you have to look beyond the tag and see the piece for what it is underneath the disrespectful scrawl. Inca (the mole) is an artist whose work I simply don’t seem to come across all that often, so when I do, I like to publish it, even if tagged.
Inca on this occasion has painted his mole character, although sometimes he writes INCA, so it helps to know what to look out for. Inca’s mole character is most endearing, and the simplicity of the piece supports the maxim that sometimes less is more. The mole outline seems to have been superimposed on a sunrise landscape, with some lovely horizontal colour transitions, and of course, there is always the subliminal Ukraine flag when blue sits above yellow. A nice piece tucked away.
Another debut on Natural Adventures – crumbs, there have been so many of those this year, it is no wonder that I am having difficulty with keeping up. This is a rather charming piece by The Mole, who come to Bristol for Eman’s birthday paint jam at the end of July.
Naturally enough, The Mole likes to paint moles, and this one is sporting a rather fetching collection of pink peace symbols. The signature says Inca, and to give the artist his full name it is ‘Inca the Mole’. I like these kinds of megatag pieces, where an artist settles on a theme and then replicates it with variations. Lovely to see, and definitely not the last I will be posting from this west of England artist.
