I know very little about Omie, but in terms of artwork, I very much like what I see. Omie is a writer who varies their work to the extent that no two pieces are even remotely alike, and there isn’t an identifiable Omie ‘house’ style, indeed it is only the letters that provide a common thread to the portfolio.

I am very much looking forward to ‘harvesting’ enough photographs to be able to share a gallery of Omie’s eclectic collection. Black and yellow make good bedfellows, being Mother Natures warning colours, and Omie has combined the colours well in these letters and augmented them with some red spots, another of nature’s danger colours. The comment ‘rain sucks’ suggests a wet day, and this particular wall can start to run really badly in the wet. Nice work from Omie.

I love it when I start to notice an artist that I hadn’t been aware of, but has been out there for a little while, and Omie_wan_kenobe is one of those. Now that I am aware of the artist’s presence I am seeing their work everywhere, and the best thing about Omie_wan_kenobi’s work is its variety and lack of a ‘house’ style.

This piece, in the burnt out tunnel, is big, bold and rather unusual. The fill paint is rather thin, and the Klashwhensober piece beneath it is clearly visible, and almost passes for a fill pattern. I don’t know whether OMIE is said ‘oh my’ or ‘omee’, but I guess the ‘wan kenobi’ would suggest the latter. Watch this space for more from this emerging talent.

Pekoe’s birthday paint jam in December was a real treat not least because it introduced me to the work of Omie_wan_kenobi for the first time. I have a feeling that I must have seen Omie’s work before, but perhaps it passed me by. I am pleased, however, to be posting this piece now.

This is a wonderful piece of ‘organic’ writing from Omie which is all rather original, with each of the letters OMIE having a rural landscape/nature feel to them. This is a nice way to celebrate Pekoe’s birthday and a great opportunity to showcase work. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for more from Omie_wan_kenobi, who I presume is a member of RBF.
