It would appear that 3Dom ‘owns’ this spot in Sevier Street, opposite the Better Food supermarket, as there has been one of his pieces here for a very long time and which has been left untagged and respected. The refresh is a showcase of just how skilled and creative 3Dom is.

It is difficult to be sure what the story to this magnificent piece is, but you can be sure there is a story. Often 3Dom’s work conveys a deep sense of loss for the natural world and I get that kind of vibe here. The character, a surreal portrayal with a large green head and single eye, is gently holding a fragile planet Earth on the end of a stick, while sitting on the folds of a hole in the universal vista. The paintwork and finishing is utterly awesome, although the unfolding story leaves me with a rather sad and wistful feeling.

I made a special effort to photograph this piece as quickly after I saw it because I never got a clean picture of its predecessor by Tom Miller that had been there for a long while on account of the difficulty of parking nearby. Lazy me. As a result, this one from 3Dom was not going to get away from me.

Surprises are always good, and this piece from 3Dom was certainly that. No warnings, no Instagram, it was just suddenly there one morning. The piece itself is typically crazy and surreal and has a joyful charm about it. 3Dom has signed it with his Instagram handle which makes me wonder if it was perhaps a commission, or at the very least he would have sought permission to do it. I think it is an expression of weather and space, with elements such as clouds, a rainbow, the sun combined with stars (see Orion’s belt?) a galaxy and a rocket. Nicely painted and bright and colourful. Thank you 3Dom.

This wonderful piece by Andy Council on Sevier Street on the entrance to a ‘green’ food market has been around for quite some time, but I just never got round to photographing it until this ‘car shot’ in July this year

Andy Council is Bristol personified and his works record the magnificent landmarks of the city and presents them woven into the form of an animal, in this case some kind of beetle. When one thinks of Bristol murals, Andy Council is always front of mind.
