1765. Upfest 2018 (59)

This was not the main piece by Si2 (Hull Graffiti) at Upfest this year, but a lovely gift to leave behind. Si2’s wheelie bins can be found all over the place, generally wherever the artist has been. To get a utility box thrown in for good measure is an extra treat.

Si2 has a great knack for creating deep shadows on his monster faces that give them a texture and almost 3D feel to them. The strong prime colours might also help them to stand out. You would have a heart of stone not to raise at least a small smirk on seeing these creations.

I was not 100 percent convinced my his official piece this yer, but will need to take anothert look before writing a post about it. These are however, delightful.

This is a very quick one from Si2, who also paints as Hull Graffiti. He was in Bristol for Upfest, and had a troubled time spraying the railway carriage down at Ashton Gate – the weather was not kind. Indeed I never got to see the final piece, but will post what I did get in good time.

Here he got some kicks by spraying a devilish head, and leaving a little Upfest souvenir. Thank you Si2. Pity it had been a bit dogged by the time I got to it.

763. Upfest 2016 (120)

Si2, operating as ‘Hull Graffiti’ is a creative artist whose work is full of cartoon style characters. Look no further than his Facebook page to see the prolific high standard work he consistently turns out.

His upfest piece is full of fun and energy, something of a USP for Si2. His biography for Upfest 2017 (yes, the list of Upfest 2017 artists is now out) reads as follows (with grammatical corrections):

Hull based professional graff writer and member of long running Newcastle crew 3rd Teem Kingz. Apex predator character writer only paints original work for pleasure and profit. Lives and loves graff and prefers to let his vast body of work speak for him, although most will know him as ‘the guy who paints the bins’.
