Squire has only recently come on to my radar, and I think this is the third Squire piece I have posted in recent weeks, each of them quite different, and I think I’m going to enjoy finding their pieces. It feels like having something new to collect, if that makes sense.

Painted onto a skate park ramp, these blue and black letters have a rather nice irregular, almost cartoony style. A nice white surround and red/yellow border finish the writing nicely, which, without highlights or starbursts, looks quite flat, but nonetheless interesting. I think I got to this piece while it was still quite fresh, because it hasn’t been too scuffed. Upwards and onwards with Squire.

I came across this artist for the first time earlier this year, and I have to say I am rather taken with their work. I have said before that some letters and words lend themselves really well to graffiti writing, and the word ‘SQUIRE’ seems to work very nicely indeed.

There is nothing snazzy or pretentious about this piece, written on a DIY skate ramp under Brunel Way.  The letters are almost cartoony, with solid green fills and yellow spots for decoration. Basic and appealing. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for more from Squire.

Maybe emerged on the Bristol scene in 2021 and has grown from strength to strength, building a reputation in the street art community over the last couple of years. His work is original and intriguing, working on themes of interlocking faces and galactic scenes. This ramp piece is a large interlocking face variant.

This side of the ramp is actually a really great place to paint, because is receives a minimum of scuffing from skaters. As Maybe pieces go, this is a rather large one, and in his slightly older style. I am hoping to see great things from this unique artist, and it would be great to catch up with him again as he is a lovely man.
