Evening walk

Air thick with wood smoke

hangs in the urban valley

catches in my throat.

The beach

Glorious morning

families walking their dogs

gentle surf and sun.

Wet walk

At my feet he lies

wet dog smell filling the air

I’ll light a nice fire.

Seaton beach

Unexplainable

stench of hydrogen sulphide

assaults our senses.

Family walk

Boxing Day ramble

Lantic Bay revisited

as good as ever.

Walk in the rain

No more delaying

we’ll do a short one today

and rein in the walk.

He and I

I didn’t want him

I didn’t want him at all

but now I’ve got him

we walk together always

with mut(t)ual disrespect.

Leigh Woods

Flashes of light brown

darting through the dense thickets;

Saturday dog walk.

Ruben

An evening walk

with the dog I didn’t want;

got under my skin?

Escape

Managed to escape

from the clutches of housework;

A well-being walk.
