The one that got away

Decorations boxed

ready for hibernation

always one evades

  • It doesn’t seem to matter how thorough I am with clearing away the Christmas decorations and stuff, one item always seems to evade going into the loft. This year it was the cloth that we put out under the tree (in the washing basket). Does this happen to anyone else?

Winter tired

Overpowering

urge to sleep like a baby

these endless dark days

Slog

A kind of torture

first day back at the office

just bumping along

Boxing day

Beloved Cornwall

where two families gather

shared conversations.

Peace and goodwill

That snatched moment when

all are out and I focus

on wrapping presents

Wet winter

The noon skies darken

forcing premature nighttime

heavy raindrops fall.

Winter

Kitchen door slams shut

blown by mild, blustery winds

such tediousness.

Office relic

Darkness has fallen

alone I sit and peer out

at street lights below

Haiku 3

Deathly cold darkness

adorns Autumn’s fallen leaves

with Winter’s halo

With huge apologies to those who have been with me on this journey for a while, this is the third time I have posted Haiku 3 but I haven’t yet been able to better it, and it speaks to me each year at this time.

Big sleep

.

Thoughts turn to Winter

and an urge to hibernate

to curl up and sleep.
