I’m familiar with that phrase, but we don’t use it over here. It is superb in this haiku though.

Actually, I subsequently checked my facts, and to my embarrassment (I blame my age) I was guilty of conflating childhood influences. This picture was actually influenced by Kenneth Grahame, who wrote ‘The Wind in the Willows’. Ratty composes a poem for Mole called ‘Ducks’ Ditty’.

No worries! I’ve never read Kenneth Grahame – missed out in childhood. I blame lots of stuff on my age too. It’s a real scapegoat, isn’t it?
