I am Stephen. I live in Bristol, UK. I decided to shorten my profile...to this: Wildlife, haiku, travel, streetart, psychogeography and my family. Not necessarily in that order.

Hello,
I came across this post when looking into the history of Falmouth/Flushing. Our home looks over onto your Grandparents house. Is the beautiful Glensilva still in your family?
Sadly Glensilva was sold shortly after my grandfather died and my grandmother moved to Mylor Bridge for a couple of years before she passed away in the 1990s.
I lived in London, but spent pretty much every school holiday at Glensilva and loved it there. I was lucky to be able to stay in such a large house with my grandparents who I adored. They were very happy days indeed.
I can still see the views of Falmouth in my mind’s eye now.
I was just looking up Glensilva as my Grandmother was housekeeper there in the 70s. I too spent some happy summers there and remember going on the yacht and flying kites up on the head. And having garden parties. Such a beautiful happy home, and spending time with the family. Such happy times.
Hi Angela, that is amazing. I think my grandparents must have bought Glensilva just after that. I still think about the place often, wishing I could go back to my childhood and the joy I had there.
Yes, I’m sure we would have met, and that Stephen was me. I do remember Mrs Ralph’s (we never caller her Constance) family coming to stay when I was there.
I used to fly the Peter Powell stunt kites on the hill.
The farm would have been Tregassow, which belongs to my uncle and aunt, they are still there.
The yacht was either Henrietta, Nettie or Nettie Too.
Glensilva, I believe, according to my sister who visited a year or so ago, has undergone a few structural changes. I prefer to remember it as it was. Stephen
Such a small world I was very fond of your grandparents they were very good to me when I was there and treated me like family. Nan lived to the ripe old age of 93 and we both spoke of Glensilva fondly I remember the yacht had a blue hull.
It was because of the holidays there and with Nan I love Cornwall so much. And flying a kite 😊 on the hill always a good place quite blowsy I seem to remember.

I take it your grandparents weren’t the Keelers? It was a very happy home. 😊

I was fond of your grandmother too. She made some wicked puddings, which I loved. It is a pleasure to re-meet you, albeit virtually.
