Well I like it! Do you write pen-to-paper? I rarely do. One might argue that the typed word is even more permanent.

I much prefer pen to paper and have little scraps of paper all over the place with random words or lines. I have just bought a second fountain pen, and I think I might get more, to replace my horrible biros. I think the permanence comes from the relationship between pen and paper. Mind, hand, ink, paper…there is something direct about it.

I used to have lots of scraps and tons of notebooks lying around when I was writing lengthy pieces. I find with the haiku, I can do them on my computer easily enough, but will write stuff down if I have an idea away from home.

This is great. This is what it was indeed, every time.

It is another one of those ‘I know what it means’ kind of phrases.
