Doors 41
This week a selection of doors from a recent sunny trip to Fowey in Cornwall. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Each is so unique! Fishes swimming uphill, the curved, inset door with iron rails, the shiny lacquered blue doors…A nice collection!

Thank you – I liked the ones with steps – I couldn’t work out why they needed steps, but a whole row of old houses had them.

They are obviously in to recessed doors in a big way down there!

Yes, but I couldn’t work out why.

Lovely shots. Do you know if there’s a specific reason for such a deep recess on some of those doors? Perhaps an old building code requirement?
Regardless, it’s a good way to be out of the rain when you’re searching for your keys 😀

As first I thought it might be a flood measure, but the sea is too far away and these houses were on a hill. The walls are very thick, so the houses probably several hundred years old – I couldn’t figure it out, which is why I took the pictures – I’ll try to find out.
