Doors 42
This week I have a rare treat for you…doors from Cortona. I spent last week on a family holiday to Umbria in Italy and this first set of doors is from a day trip we took to this Tuscan town set on a hill top in the province of Arezzo. Close your eyes and imagine the heat, sounds and the smells of this medieval town. Perfect.

Great set of doors, Stephen. I especially enjoyed the shots you took through the passageways, walkways that must be a nice bit of shade in the heat of summer.

Thank you. Who can resist a passageway?

I have a thing for green doors and those narrow passageways 😉

All those stairs would have me huffing and puffing but there’s something so charming about those passageways that it’s hard not to explore them whenever possible.
Italy is a bounty of old architecture and wonderful doors.
You sure shared some beauties. I hope your time there was well-enjoyed 🙂

Thank you. A wonderful week, and I loved taking a few diversions in the towns to find hidden secrets.

Oh yes, these look familiar. I’m so glad you got to experience a piece of my new country. Looking forward to more. The last door is indeed peculiar.

Thank you very much for this impromptu trip to Tuscany. I was in Florence in the Summer 1992 and still remember the heat and the need for a cooling gelato. I’m Australian so this was a quick and affordable way to travel back in time. I loved each and every photo and my only disappointment is that I’m not there with you. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Best wishes,
Rowena

Italy is a truly magical country. It is my preferred holiday destination, and if I could afford it I would spend more time there.

Affording Italy is a problem. I only spent about three days there and blew a lot of money. Back then, I was also using Lire which didn’t help managing the spending. It would be fantastic to go back.

Put it on the bucket list. I am beginning to assemble several things I want to do, and achieved one of them not too long ago. Such fulfilment.
