Doors 79 – Flaine, France doors (3)
Alright… I have had a couple of weeks off from Thursday doors, mainly because I have been pretty busy at work and just ran out of time. I am still pretty busy but have carved out a few moments to give you my third and final set of doors from a skiing trip to Flaine in France back in March of this year.
The ski resort was built in the brutalist style, so if you are expecting ‘chocolate box’ doors then probably best to skip the rest of this post. These doors are ugly, but even ugly doors have some fascination, in the case of most of these it is their functionality.
Enjoy if you can:

That’s it… collective relief all round. Some rather nicer doors next week, maybe.
Please go take a look at the Norm 2.0 blog – the originator of Thursday Doors where there are links to yet more doors in the comments section at the end.
Have a great end of week and weekend.

Unusual collection! as a ski loving person the first two are my favorites.

Certainly unusual, and not often the subject of Thursday Doors

You can’t believe how much joy I took from seeing snow in your photos as we are in the middle of a heat wave. We cracked 100 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday.

The white stuff seems like such a long time ago now.

Love that third photo: the door within a door

When I took it, an employee of the cable car company, waited politely before going into the door. He asked me jokingly if I was a spy…why else would I be taking a picture of that.

Looks like there was no shortage of fresh powder. It’s good to mix it up sometimes and snow shots in the middle of our worst heat wave of the year was actually quite welcome. Thanks for sharing these 🙂

Always a pleasure. Something a little more mainstream next week.

Even the ‘oddball’ doors need some love – I think these are terrific! Especially the cooling effects of the snow. Makes me think about the fall weather hopefully making its way to the east coast in another month or so…relief!

Clearly there is a lot of hot weather about. I am pleased to offer some visual relief.

Bahhaah, brutalist indeed. Alas, I used to love skiing and have never skied in France. I’d take all this most gladly, brutalist or not.

It is a great skiing resort, but zero culture.
