I know what you mean. Many years ago I lived temporarily in Tokyo. I often travelled from Shimbashi to Shinjuku(different districts in Tokyo). Invariably it was standing room only. The subway system actually employed workers to push the last people into the train so that the doors could close. Nice use of hurtling with Bristol in its sights. I can picture it quite clearly.
