4035. Upfest 2021 75×75 (72)

On the wall adjacent to the recent Irony piece that I posted last week is this Upfest 21 contribution from John Curtis, a well-known Bristol artist who seems to be as comfortable painting large walls as he is with his canvasses.

John Curtis’s USP is recreating Bristol urban landscapes, full of movement and light and chiming with locals because the subjects are usually familiar landmarks. This piece beautifully captures the M Shed and the old cranes that stand to attention on the harbourside.

This sight would warm the hearts of any native of the city and is beautifully captured. A fine contribution to the 75 walls in 75 days event.

This leaves me with only three more pieces to post from Upfest’s 75×75. Two of them I know about, but haven’t yet been able to photograph, but the last one evades me, so I am going to have to do some detective work before I can complete the whole set.

  1. The last time I heard there were still three walls that were going to be painted by three different artists but none of them had been done for a variety of reasons.
Whoever does the first one will be included in the 75 x 75 and the other two will just be Upfest walls but not part of the 75 x 75

      1. OK well the one in the garden centre is a beauty and is now being used as a chalkboard to highlight their deal of the day/week
Whilst the Irony’s ‘Hedgehog’ was to do with Upfest I think that’s a new project they’re working on in that area to bring some street art to the people that have none and isn’t part of the 75 x 75, a little like the Weston Wallz!

  2. I have made a few enquires on your/my behalf
The 75th wall is yet to be painted
There are three walls that need to be painted and the first one to be painted will be included in the 75 and the other two wont.
The only artist I know who has his name down in Sled who I know has been painting up North recently, who the other two are I have absolutely no idea
There are other things in the pipeline which I haven’t been told about but am hoping to hear about before they happen which might be this year . . .
