I am Stephen. I live in Bristol, UK. I decided to shorten my profile...to this: Wildlife, haiku, travel, streetart, psychogeography and my family. Not necessarily in that order.

I had an epiphany. I saw myself in a mirror on holiday in January, and wasn’t overjoyed. I decided I needed to lose weight, so have cut out my beloved biscuits, cakes and puddings. Buying a birthday cake for my wife has been agonising. I think I might give myself a day off on her birthday.
Lovely to see you again. I hope all is well with you.
Sorry, I missed this comment in May.
I can imagine buying a cake was difficult. It’s okay, as long as you yourself just had a little piece—a taster. Once you get used to having small amounts, you realize you can have anything you like!♥️
Having said that, for a number of reasons, not least of which is sleep, we have completely given up alcohol. We were never big drinkers to start with, but we bought wine and beer regularly. We honestly don’t miss it at all.
I have cut down on my alcohol a lot. I make a bottle of red wine last a week, and don’t find it a struggle at all. My weight loss has plateaued, but at least it isn’t what it was. Could do with losing another stone, though. Exercise is difficult because of my knee injury, but I will come up with something. Discipline is key, I think.
How about swimming? That won’t have an impact on your knee, would it?
I had a bizarre mini-stroke-like event last November and still have mild numbness on my left side from top to toe. My foot is perpetually numb (not comfortably 😉). I have my suspicions that it could be related to my four Covid vaxs, but I’d still get them if it became necessary again.
I’m 62 soon. Every day brings a new surprise. 😂 Can’t really complain though.
Sorry to hear about that, it sounds uncomfortable and a bit worrying. As we age, I’m 60 in January, it becomes difficult to know what to attribute to ageing, and what is an actual health issue.
Why are you abstaining?

Practice with it often and you’ll get used to it. 😁
