Doors 324 – Doors of Marrakesh, Morocco, January 2025 (Part V)
This week I am continuing with some doorscursions mostly concentrated at the southern end of the Medina of Marrakesh, not too far away from where our Riad was. There had been some light rain, which didn’t really matter, because it was short-lived and dried up pretty swiftly.
My description this week is fairly brief, because I find myself short of time to write this post. There is a bit more variation in the doors this time, and I even include some ghost doors (or, as some call them, phantom doors). Do you have a favourite? I know that I do:

Well, that’s it for this week and indeed for next week too, because I will be on a late summer family holiday in Madeira (Not many doorscursion opportunities, as the family have limited patience for my obsession).
May I wish you a very happy weekend.
If you have made it this far, you probably like doors, and you really ought to take a look at the No Facilities blog by Dan Anton who has taken over the hosting of Thursday Doors fromΒ Norm 2.0 blog. Links to more doorscursions can be found in the comments section of Dan Antonβs weekly Thursday Doors post.

These are really cool, lots of character.

Yes, lots of character in this selection.

The door within a door, I think. Unpretentious, battered but still doing its job.

Yep, my favourite.

Thanks to your door posts I’ve started looking at holidays in Marrakesh

I am thrilled to hear it. The experience is quite unlike any other. I would recommend a day or more in the Atlas Mountains. Iβll be posting some doors and scenery from there soon.

This is a wonderful collection, Steve. Can I have two favorites? My favorite door is “Elegant door with a stunning tile surround.” But my favorite photo is the the one of the three studded doors in the alley. At first glance, I thought that was an interior photo.
Enjoy your break, I hope you enjoy your holiday.

Thanks Dan. Mine was the door within a door, I canβt help loving them.

I really like the weathered and history-laden wooden door of Derb Souikt Lahaj Abdellah (the last photo). The featured photo’s three studded doors in the alley are both fantastic photos and a trio of excellent doors. The little pensive bin or planter in the middle of that alley is a perfect reference for scale in your photo.
I love everything about the beautiful tiled door. The attention to detail and pattern and the care with which this doorway is maintained. Even the roof demonstrates orderliness. Superb.
Love the ghost/phantom doors all. The orange one stands out for sure. The orange door looks fabulous. This ghost door (the orange door) announces itself (in contrast to some ghost doors that attempt to camouflage the idea of a door even existed).
Thank you, Stephen, for the great photos and glimpse into life in Marrakesh. I enjoyed your tours very much.
Safe travels on your vacation! Enjoy.

Have a great holiday mate
I’m currently stuck at home after surgery knowing I’ll be going literally nowhere anytime soon . . .

I hope the surgery went well and that you get mobile as quickly as possible. When you are recovered we can do a trip to WSM?

That would definitely be something to look forward to . . . π

I have plenty of leave, so taking a week day off sometime in the Autumn could work, when you feel able.
