Even though Lis painted this piece well in advance of Halloween, such is my huge backlog of photographs, I am still several days late posting it, and I have loads of other Halloween pieces that I might just clear by Christmas.
This piece reminds me of one she painted under the M32 as it is like an archway with a vortex into another world or domain. A couple of menacing crows holding weapons in their beaks add a bit of horror threat, and of course there are a couple of spider’s web decorations. A nicely painted piece as part of a mini paint jam with Rowzgraff and Ozuk.

6518. St Werburghs tunnel (458)
I tend not to post too many pieces by unknown artists, but sometimes you just have to go for it… I can’t know everything (indeed, I don’t know very much). This haunting piece at the farm end entrance to the tunnel features a girl with a ball and a crow flying towards her. There is something rather tender and innocent about the piece, and it would not be out of place as an illustration in a children’s book.
While the artwork might lack sophistication, it is captivating, and probably deliberately vague. It feels ghostly and ephemeral, almost as if it would disappear if you glanced away. I haven’t seen any other artwork like this around Bristol, although I could be mistaken, but I certainly hope that more such pieces appear – perhaps with a signature.

1595. St Werburghs tunnel (28)
I can only tell you very little about this magnificent piece in St Werberghs tunnel. It is by dmunk13 who was painting with six other writers, mostly from Bristol, a week or two back. He has an Instagram account and from that it looks very much like he is a tattoo artist who, like so many others, hits the streets from time to time.
I think this is a really wonderful piece in so many ways. The colour selection works well for me. The combination of skilful 3D writing together with a fabulous crow head, wearing an orange beany, and why not. The letters are disguised and I think spell out MUNK, but not necessarily in that order. There is more writing in the cloud, which I think mirrors the 3D writing. Finally what self-respecting piece with a character doesn’t have it holding a spray can. This crow is gooood!

635. Picton Lane (9)
Well I said two posts ago that I would start to feature more of Shab’s work, and here I am, true to my promise. This is a really nice piece down a back street with a very low footfall. I doubt many people have had a chance to see this piece, and indeed I am not sure if it is still there.
Once again the signature eye features prominently, together with another of Shab’s motifs, a crow. I like his work, and particularly like the patterns in black and white he makes to in-fill the piece. More soon.
