Today I am off to a valley in the Atlas Mountains, and wrote this last night after a very long day doing a lot of walking. So today’s posts will be quick ones like yesterday and might not be very coherent. This is the third piece in a superb collaboration between Sled One, Smak and Misc, whose stunning heron clutching an eel in its bill is wonderful.

I don’t know Misc, but believe he painted a couple of pieces on this particular trip to Bristol. The stylised natural history piece is amazing and really captures the struggle between the fish and the bird. I would like to see much more work like this, as it is right up my street.

This was my second attempt at photographing this piece by Zubieta, just outside the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft. The first time I came, there were significant shadows across it, and some people sitting on chairs in front of it – all quite unhelpful. The piece is painted on the PRSC blanket and tent exchange, which in itself tells a story of the times we live in.

Zubieta is a muralist whose work often encompasses nature, particularly floral scenes. I think she uses brushes to paint her murals, rather than spray paints. This decorative piece includes some pink flowers with lips in the centre, a caterpillar, a heart and a figure, and many of the leaves contain beady eyes. The content of the work is not so different from Peggy, but the styles are worlds apart. A nice piece enhancing an otherwise utilitarian storage facility.

Whales have been quite a common theme in Mr Draws’ artwork, both in the studio and on walls big and small. I guess that these large mammals are representative of the threats and opportunities for our planet, and something I know Mr Draws cares a lot about. This piece combines his writing with nature, a concept I wholly endorse.

The letters DRAWS provide a backdrop for the blue whale character and some greenery. It was painted as part of a Halloween paint jam and there is plenty of symbolism in the piece, where the underlying message is that if you meddle with nature we are walking down the path of doom. Cheery huh? Great stuff from the thoughtful Mr Draws.
