5812. M32 roundabout J3 (549)

Having not seen Werm for an eternity, it was really nice to bump into him while he was painting this piece. What made the encounter stranger still was that we had been communicating the day before about a RichT piece that I had posted. Sometimes it is difficult not to believe in coincidence, although I know there is a whole ton of evidence to dismiss it.

Werm is trying out something a little different in this piece, and has definitely edged away from his ultra-complex wildstyle pieces of the last year or two. The notable thing about this piece is the gently pastel colours softly transitioning across all of the letters in a seemingly random sequence. The strong 3D shadow, green border and trimmings and the black buffed wall help the piece to stand out nicely. A good start to the New Year from Werm.

3017. Frome side (2)

A recent paint jam in a spot I have struggled to get to until recently included this magnificent beast from Smak. The piece, in gentle pastel shades, is yet another example in an extensive portfolio of the outstanding talent of the artist.

What is really clever about Smak’s writing is that his letters are nearly always legible and yet the sophistication and complexity of his designs and fills is mind-blowing. To achieve such a balance is surely the work of a master at the top of his game.

2553. Dean Lane skate park (262)

One of the things I love about going through my archives is that I get to re-visit a whole bunch of gems that for one reason or another I didn’t publish at the time – often because I operate with a monumental backlog. I reckon that for every piece I post on Natural Adventures there must be five or six that never see the light of day.

This overlooked and yet utterly wonderful piece is by Slakarts and was painted in Dean Lane back in January last year. His trademark stylised faces are always recognisable and he seems to favour a soft or gentle colour palette. This face has been adorned with plenty of little decorations and some nice painted drips. More in my archives to come.

1340. The Bearpit (122)

It is always, always good to find pieces by Skor85. She is probably one of the unsung heroes of the Bristol street art scene, occasionally turning out these extraordinary fantasy dreamlike pieces in all of the spots I like to visit.

In this piece Skor85 has painted a futuristic/medieval character sitting on the ground clutching a gem in one hand and a weapon in the other. The words ‘Think truth’ give the piece an overall message…maybe it relates to gun law in America, I’m not sure.

Her command of the colours and tones in this piece is obvious, and I love the way she gives the effect of a pastel drawing rather than a spray can work. I admire her work a lot.
