Caterpillar

 

What you will become

far outweighs your current form;

a means to an end.

  • This is the caterpillar of the elephant hawk moth, found on my allotment. Both caterpillar and adult are beautiful in my eyes, a view not shared by everyone.

Once a fine manor

then a school for young ladies

soon to become flats.

Plugged into Mozart,

the Shawshank Redemption scene,

and the dryer spins.

The young boy looked out

and offered a bashful wave

to the old bin man.

Intoxicated

with life and a new purpose

young students gather

fresh-faced and full of promise

as I was once long ago.

a man and his dog asleep;

bleeding heart of the city
