Sunbathing

Catching the last of

the afternoon sun, your games

for the day, over.

Relief

Cool damp air surrounds

my melancholic humor

offering relief.

Summer interrupted (for a day)

Let the sun shine in

or at least a cloudy sky;

break in dry weather.

Observation

You can’t hide from me

I have naturalist’s eyes

I see living things.

by Scooj

Parched

Long dry Summer days

sucking moisture from the earth;

new cracks in the lawn.

Bee bar

Buzzing honey bees

guzzle fresh sweet nectar from

marjoram flowers.

by Scooj

Proud

Compassionate act;

my boy selfless in support

of one who needs help.

Little big

Little Jenny wren

sings her heart out; doing so

she makes mine sing too.

Stubborn

.

I am not getting
any younger and I don’t
like change… I said it.

Painted lady

On Bristol’s fair Downs

she settles by a clover

plant, oblivious.
