I think I am going to have to refer to Trafficity as something like ‘old faithful’, such is his consistency and form. This is one of at least three relatively recent pieces by the Polish artist on the swimming pool wall. I wonder if he paints here, because it is a little bit out of the way and less busy than other parts of the Deaner.

His letters ZIOS, which for years I mistakenly thought were ZIOM, are split horizontally into three colour stripes, which is customary for his work. The writing is set on a yellow background, which looks as if it has been attached to the wall with rivets or nails, a simple but clever detail. As ever, lovely work from Traffiticy.

2191. Dean Lane skate park (210)

Just to prove that he is not a one-trick-pony (which he absolutely isn’t) here is a non-rabbit piece by Nevergiveup in Dean Lane. This is a nicely thought out piece with great colours and elements in it and it is so very easy on the eye. The first thought I get is that it looks a bit brand-like and would work very nicely on a beer mat (do they still exist?).

The letters ZBOK I think are a crew or something similar that Nevergiveup and some other Polish artists use. It translates as pervert or deviant… not an entirely unexpected word for an art form that is edgy and rebellious. I guess there is something a little paradoxical about such a nice design for the word zbok. Great piece by Nevergiveup, just a shame I didn’t get there when it was clean.

I met Hire the day he was just finishing off this piece. I told him how much I liked his rabbits as well as his writing, and he told me the back story to this particular piece. So, here’s a thing, even when a bit of graffiti or street art appears to look like nothing out of the ordinary, there are nearly always stories sitting behind them. Sometimes these stories are overt, other times covert.

Interestingly, another polish street artist, NEVERGIVEUP, was just around the corner sizing up some tarmac on the skate park for a piece he was going to work on that afternoon. Neither seemed to know each other, but both are polish and spray rabbits. Very different styles, but some commonality. Both really nice people too.
