1531. Stokes Croft

I have said many times before that I like artists from out of town coming to visit and leaving behind little gifts. I haven’t seen any new work from qWeRT in quite a while in Bristol, so it was great to stumble upon this one in Stokes croft last week.

These cute wheatpastes feature a goggle-eyed character, in this instance assuming the shape of a broom with its fingers creating a heart shape. It is difficult not to like these paste ups. I only wish qWeRT would make the trip from London more often.

827. City Road (4)

Some weeks ago now, I had a great walk home from work, and discovered several wheatpastes by qWeRT. This one was rather better concealed than others I had spotted, and photographing it was a little awkward because the householder was sitting in the doorway, soaking up the sun. I asked if they minded me taking a picture…I don’t think they had even noticed this little gem on their own doorstep. Oh well.

I am fond of these googly eyed characters, there is something endearing and playful about them. As you will know by now, I am fond of a good paste up, and this one doesn’t disappoint.

811. Jamaica Street (6)

This is the third qWeRT paste up that I have featured recently, and was photographed with others during a walk home from the city centre. Jamaica Street is home to the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft (PRSC) outdoor gallery, and this small piece sits directly opposite it.

As with the last two qWeRT pieces, in The Bearpit and in St Augustine’s Parade, this one features googly-eyed characters and a gentle, peaceful theme. Love. I am writing this post on the day after the most recent London terrorist attack, and felt this wheatpaste is all about bringing us all closer together with love.

788. The Bearpit (70)

This is the second paste up by qWeRT that I have posted in recent days, and it is right in the middle of The Bearpit, but I’ll wager most people who pass through won’t even have spotted it. Another wonderfully happy piece, with a bug-eyed character holding up uits hands and creating a heart shape. Simple but pleasing.

I really like qWeRT’s work that has started to appear in Bristol. I am guessing that the artist visits from time to time, and lays down a trail of  wheatpastes probably in one session – if you get lucky, like I did, you might find several of them in a single linear walk.

A really welcome visitor to the streets of Bristol. You might just be able to see that has been placed in front of the Cheba and SPZero76 pieces.

773. St Augustine’s Parade (1)

Something fresh and new in Bristol. As you will know by now, I am a big fan of wheatpastes, so when I saw this I had a small pang of excitement. In fact it turned out to be the first of four I found on my home. It is by qWeRT, a wheatpaster based in London, who must have had a mini-break in Bristol and left a few ‘presents’.

This colourful happy piece appeared to have been here a little while as one bit was starting to peel off – I can’t believe I have not seen it before though. Since Kid Crayon moved onto spraying, I have missed my fix of paste ups. Discovering the work of qWeRT has quenched my thirst a little.
