6474. M32 roundabout J3 (632)

More from the irrepressible Logoe, this time behind the bush on the M32 roundabout, where he has painted before. What is remarkable about Logoe’s most recent Bristol blitz, is that all of the pieces, and he painted many over a weekend, are really well finished, looking clean and crisp.

This piece of script writing is in yellow shades with a deep green drop shadow, and tidy white outline. The letters spelling LOGOE could easily be mis-read if you weren’t sure what you were looking at. As with most, if not all, of Logoe’s pieces, the writing is adorned with a scattering of brown, grey and yellow oval spots, complementing the colour palette perfectly.

Logoe payed us one of his visits a couple of weeks back, and this is a magnificent piece of writing he left behind, that has lasted longer than many of his pieces do. I think he painted at least six pieces on this particular visit, and I will be sharing those I found over the coming days and weeks.

The letters of this script writing are really bold and look quite chunky with a deep 3D drop shadow. Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of this one is the vertical stripes in oranges and greys in the background, which provide a strong foundation and springboard for the letters. Nice work from Logoe.

Logoe has been visiting Bristol again recently, and that generally means that he painted several pieces over a weekend. Unfortunately this time I goofed up some of my photographs and on returning to the pieces they had already gone. Not to worry though, he is so prolific and this is the first of a few posts from his trip earlier in the month

This is a particularly fine example of his work; beautiful, clean script writing, spelling out LOGOE in turquoise, set on a grey-green background. He has painted a subtle patterned green drop shadow, that complements rather than dominates the writing. No contemporary Logoe piece is complete without a string of oval spots running through the middle of the writing. All great stuff.

Ooh! I love this recent piece from Desi, whose work just gets better and better. This time she is writing VEIL, one of her two variants, but with joined up script writing, which is a new and exciting development that works rather well.

I have often been quite critical of artists who don’t buff walls before they paint, because the underlying graffiti can often be distracting, but Desi, whether by design or luck, has managed to pull it off with this piece. The background somehow complements her writing and helps it to stand out. Beautiful curvy letter shapes are accompanied by great blue and pink fills (that B/P combo again), perfectly blended. I think that this might just be my favourite piece from Desi yet.

Although totally unplanned, I have managed to post two consecutive pieces from the same wall. The previous one was by Dibz, with his tag-style graffiti, and this one from Todoaciem is a delightful calligraffiti script piece, which is really rather unusual.

Todoaciem and Stivs probably jointly hold the crown for calligraffiti in Bristol, and you can understand why. This piece takes the regular standard form of calligraffiti to a new level by introducing a script-style font and the result is really effective. Painted on a blue and green bubble background, the whole thing is a delicious feast for the eye.

I feel like I have posted so many Logoe pieces over the last eighteen months or so, that I don’t really need to say too much, in fact can’t say too much that I haven’t said before – to summarise; script writing, great colour palette and horizontal strip of oval dots adding interest.

I suppose that what is slightly different about this chrome writing is that the letters are a bit fatter than of late, and there are a rather nice couple of underlines incorporated into the piece. Some great shout-outs to Haka, Tes (Slim Pickings), Kush and Silent Hobo, accompany the piece. More to come from Logoe’s most recent Bristol blitz.

Yet another fine piece of script writing from Logoe, painted during something of a marathon by the artist on his most recent trip to the city. There is little more that I can say about his pieces that hasn’t already been said.

Logoe, M32 Cycle path, Bristol, October 2022

One thing that has been missing from this feast of work is the incorporation of song lyrics slapped over a corner… maybe he just didn’t allow himself enough time to do them. In a way, his pieces look cleaner without the lyrics, but in another way, they do add interest. I think that I have one more from this session to share, and there was another that was painted over before I had a chance to photograph it. I’m sure there will be more the next time Logoe hits town.

4743. M32 Spot (146)

It is a joyful thing when Logoe comes to town, because he doesn’t imply come and paint one piece, oh no, he absolutely sweats it out with several pieces over a weekend. These blitzes have become a bit of a highlight or interruption in the steady flow of new work that we see every week in the city.

This is the first of several wonderful pieces of graffiti writing by Logoe that I will be sharing over the next month or so, all painted over one weekend. Logoe has painted a real beauty of one of my favourite walls, showcasing his distinctive thin script letters spelling out his name in beautifully complementary colours, finished with a horizontal splash of little oval dots running through the whole piece. It is so good that he keeps returning to Bristol to share his talent with us all.

4342. Lawrence Hill roundabout (17)

I don’t tend to visit Lawrence Hill roundabout all that often as the turnover is pretty slow, and pieces tend to get tagged quite a lot. However I did get down there about a week ago and was rewarded with quite a few decent pieces, many of them is good condition, including this rather nice Smut piece.

Smut, Lawrence Hill, Bristol, March 2022

Smut is an artist who turns out consistently excellent pieces. A writer who uses a distinctive script style, with lovely smooth curves and sharp borders. With a few more of these it won’t be long before I have enough for a gallery. Always good to stumble across these.
