This is an absolutely beautiful and charming piece from Desi, demonstrating what a great graffiti writer she has become. The combination piece has her VEIL letters accompanied by a small Mini Mouse character.
Desi has grown both in confidence and stature over the years. The fill in this piece is particularly attractive, incorporating some subtle white spots on grey and fetching zebra stripes, which always go down well. A nicely conceived and executed piece.
Here we have a lovely Desi piece which reverts back to her DESI letters, rather than her VEIL letters that she has been favouring in recent months. If you look closely, you will notice that she has been joined with an impish addition by Posh.
Desi’s letters are filled with four shades of purple containing reversed out spots through the colour courses. The letters are finished well with a black drop shadow and fine yellow border.
The addition of a Posh character exclaiming the words ‘eh up’, perhaps betraying a Derbyshire or Yorkshire origin, is a bonus bit of fun. Different artists, different styles, most likely painted at different times.
Desi and Mr Two Gram are a couple who often paint together, and here is one of their recent collaborations. Their styles are quite different, and so the collaborative part of their work is limited to the fact that they paint side-by-side. To the left Desi has painted her VEIL letters presented beautifully which include her trademark heart.
To the right Mr Two Gram has painted a chrome and purple piece, which although an unlikely combination, actually works rather well. I feel that Mr Two Gram is rather underrepresented on Natural Adventures, and ought to address that. His work is often quite low-key and modest, so perhaps I don’t pick up on it as much as I might. It is always great when these two get out and paint together.
I am a bit fed up with the WordPress classic editor block. On my iPad I have to go into blocks, rather than simply being able to default to it. I have just lost an entire post because I failed to save my progress.
Desi, who writes both DESI and VEIL is another artist who had a fairly slow 2025, although her work has picked up in the winter months of 2025-26.
This is a superb combination piece that incorporates a rather fetching sheep. Her work has improved so much over the years, and she now has a tangible confidence. It is a gorgeous cold crisp and sunny morning here in Bristol, the food is all prepped and ready to go for this afternoon and I have a moment to write a couple of posts. I am full of Christmas spirit and all is well. What better way to celebrate than to post this wonderful piece by Desi, a stalwart of Natural Adventures.
This upbeat piece which incorporates the winning combination of pink and blue, is a study in shades of grey, with five tones making up the fill in the letters VEIL. This is an attractive piece and the hearts have a feel-good factor about them. Wonderful.
Unfortunately, I don’t get to post every piece by every artist, and even the artists I am more partial to don’t get fully represented here. There is so much artwork out there that only a fraction ever makes it onto these pages. Although I have posted a lot of Desi pieces, the same cannot be said for her partner, Mr Two Gram. Here they combine well on one of my favourite walls.
On the left Desi has painted a combination piece with her VEIL letters and a Chinese lucky waving cat (why are these such a thing? I never saw them when I was a kid). The piece is really nicely finished, and such a marked improvement on her early works, there is so much more sophistication and technique in her work these days.
Mr Two Gram tends to paint pieces that are reasonably consistent from one to the next, perhaps with a colour change or letter change from time to time. He likes to stick with his 2GRAM lettering (or TWOGRAM) often in Chrome, but not always. I would class Mr Two Gram as a graffiti writer’s graffiti writer, if that makes sense – one for the purists. This is a cool collaboration.
Desi has been as busy so far this year as at any time I can remember, which is great news. This piece was painted in Greenway Bush Lane, which is fast becoming a graffiti hotspot, alongside Pekoe and Pura Decadencia.
The orange colours are nicely blended through the VEIL letters, although the paint is a little thin (often the case with oranges and yellows in particular), and there are some nicely reversed out spots for decoration. Desi has added some subtle star bursts, which almost make the piece look slightly out of focus, an interesting effect. Long may this productive streak last!
It took me three attempts to photograph this wonderful piece of writing by Desi, the first two were ruined with the shadows of trees cast across it, rendering the pictures useless. I should know better, this spot should only be visited on an overcast day, a bit like Sparke Evans Park, if you are after decent pictures.
Desi is a constant and talented member of the RBF crew whose work has been steadily improving over the years. Recently she has stepped up a level, and this VEIL piece is beautifully painted, and decorated with a couple of flowers, cheering up a dull day. The letters are well presented, and the fills nicely worked to run through all the letters in a coherent way. There is a nice shout-out to Mr Two Gram too in this fine piece.
Wherever you find a piece by Desi, you are likely to find a Mr Two Gram piece nearby. Like many partners (Ryder and T-Rex, Bloem and Sub), they paint alongside one another all over town, leaving their ‘household’ stamp.
I haven’t posted many pieces by Mr Two Gram, but have dozens in my archives, so I need to do a little better at posting them. His writing is distinctive, and depending on the size of the wall carries variants of his name. I suggested to him once that he might like to try character pieces, and although receptive to the idea, I haven’t seen anything in that direction.
This pairing was of course one part of a larger collaboration celebrating Desi and Even’s birthday and carried a theme of Studio Ghibli – a Japanese animation studio, hence the cartoon cat. Desi, who often writes VEIL, has painted a combination piece, which is quite unusual and something that would be great to see more of. Reflecting back to when I first started seeing Desi’s work, there has been a constant improvement, and this piece is truly one of her best, with tidy, clean letters and fabulously presented fills.
Ladies of the PWA crew have started the year with some real momentum, and have broadly had a busy period. This conflation piece from Desi and Lupa looks gorgeous in the evening sun. In my experience, it is quite unusual for two artists to merge their names and share a style in this way, and I have to say I rather like it. Within the crew, there are all sorts of combinations that would be fascinating to see, although I sense that this might be a bit of a one-off.
Desi has contributed the VEI, and probably L, and Lupa, the UPA. They have set the pink writing on a traditional purple brick wall background, and the Christmas hat from PWA’s Zake can still be seen behind the letters, providing some temporal context. A fine and true collaboration from Desi and Lupa.
