This piece is from another out-of-towner, Eatz, the second post featuring a visitor in a row, which is one of the wonderful aspects of Bristol street art. Because Bristol is nationally and internationally known for its street art and graffiti culture, and its most famous contemporary son, Banksy, a lot of artists from about the place will visit and drop a piece while they are here.

Eatz has created a rather interesting monster, with multiple eyes and a hand holding a glowing stick of some kind, emerging from a puddle of blackness. Lots of great colours and a bit of a story behind this alien in a spacesuit. The piece was painted alongside a Lupa piece, and I wonder whether they are friends/acquaintances, or whether they met of the first time as part of the paint jam.

One of the very earliest street art pieces I posted on Natural Adventures was by Unify, painted on the side of the Highbury Vaults in Kingsdown. Both Unify and I have come a long way since then. This wonderful monkey in a spacesuit stencil piece is perfectly presented on the side of a ramp in the Cheltenham skate park.

The freehand background is very dramatic and sets the scene perfectly for the intricate stencil work. I love the reflection of the earth in the space helmet. I don’t know why, but I have seen a lot of space monkey street art over the years and it appears to be a really popular theme (note to self – potential for a themed gallery). This is a classy piece from Unify, whose work can be found all over London where I think the artist lives.

1316. New Gatton Road (2)

The tree in front of this magnificent Sepr piece is always going to make photographing it difficult. A winter shot on a clear day is probably the best you are going to get, but ebven then a shadow of the tree is cast across the mural.

I took several pictures of this piece shortly after it had been started, but they were polluted by the light conditions. I am not entirely sure what this is all about other than it is yet another brilliant monkey in space suit piece. Not far from this spot there is a Zase and Dekor monkey in a space suit, and every Upfest seems to throw up one or two. It is an endearing theme, and one so excellently executed here by Sepr.

This is a deceptively large piece on a fairly irregular wall, and how well Sepr has used the space to tell a humerous story. The monkey is immediately adjacent to the beautiful turtle by Louis Masai, and there we have street art…two classics, one earnest and worthy, the other full of fun…both supreme.
