Another absolute belter from the unstoppable Stivs on the M32 roundabout. He really is going through an incredibly productive and inspired period… long may it last. I often wonder, when artists are so prolific, how they afford the paint, because it is not cheap to paint a wall this big.

This calligraffiti piece is notable for the exceptionally brilliant fill that is not only beautiful, but also has the appearance of being a piece that has been painted over… clever stuff from Stivs. As with so many artists in Bristol at the moment, Stivs seems to be hitting a new level, and shows no signs of letting up. A masterful piece.

As mentioned recently, Stivs has been absolutely smashing it recently, and this pair of pieces, on either side of the entrance to St Werburghs tunnel, is a wonderful recent addition to his expanding repertoire.

To the left as you enter the tunnel is a fine bright greeting ‘good morning’ with dawn colours in the background. Cheerful and revitalising. This contrasts with the piece opposite.

To the right is the ‘good night’ piece in black writing, set on a sunset background. The two complementary pieces are a perfect pair and a creative way of painting this particular spot. There seems to be no limit to Stiv’s ambition and energy at the moment, and that is a good thing.
Stivs has been working overtime of late, painting pretty much every week, and each time turning out something of great interest and style. This recent one, whilst visually attractive, might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Spelling out DogShit, I suppose what this piece does is challenge us to accept the word through the beauty of the writing, and believe me, this is a very classy piece of writing. Stivs just seems to be getting better and better, and he switches up his writing style all the time, keeping things fresh. The vibrant colour selections work really well, and there is still a touch of calligraphic strokes to the letters. A very nice piece indeed.
Seeing tribute and birthday pieces is always great to see, and it demonstrates the joy of painting for others, that selflessness that is a common trait in many street/graffiti artists, at least in my experience.

This piece for Shosh by Stivs at the entrance of St Werburghs tunnel is an absolute beauty and shows just how wide Stiv’s range of calligraffiti is. The pink lettering looks like it has been applied with a wide paint brush, but is actually really nicely finished. Great shadows and decorations. A lovely piece that is very easy on the eye.
Stivs has presented me with another golden opportunity to feature his work on Natural Adventures by painting this cracker in St Werburghs. His calligraffiti writing is improving with every piece, and this is an outstanding example of what he is capable of.

Painted in black and red with a blue border, the letters have the appearance of having been painted with brush strokes – an effect perfected by Voyder in some of his Bristol works. There is so much to like about this, particularly the crispness and the thin yellow lines running through the piece. Lovely stuff.
Not long ago, I said that Stivs was rather underrepresented on Natural Adventures. This post is a deliberate effort to address this imbalance, and there are more pieces in the pipeline. This piece was painted in Sparke Evans Park alongside Counterfits and Maesyhook.

The beautiful calligraffiti spells out ‘Dirty Soul’ and is composed of large red letters with some nice pink shading on the upper surfaces and a black surround, set on a background of tiny white grid work, which must have taken a while to paint. A high quality piece of writing.
I always feel like I am a little bit behind the curve when it comes to Stivs. He has only really come onto my radar over the last twelve months or so, and I have struggled to post as many of his outstanding pieces as I would like.

This is a real beauty, tucked away on the M32 roundabout. Unlike some of his more formal caligraffiti, this piece uses his calligraphic principals and blends them into some wildstyle writing. The colours work really well together and Stivs has worked in some incredibly detailed fills and patterns. This is a mighty piece.
What a wonderful and fresh collaboration this is from Stivs and an artist new to me (at the time of taking this picture) Maesyhook. The wall is often difficult to photograph, but I am pleased with these pictures – not too much glare.

On the left is a sugar-sweet cat/unicorn sitting on a cloud looking very cute, painted in the Japanese Kawaii style, something you don’t see too often in Bristol… until now. I am guessing that Maesyhook has only recently moved to Bristol, although she is originally from Granada, and is another addition to the growing community of Spanish street artists in Bristol. The writing at the bottom originally said Love Rave – Love 21 June 2021 – a reference to an all-day rave at the Lakota on Monday next week. Watch this space for more of her recent work.

To the right is yet another outstanding piece of calligraphy graffiti (calligraffiti) writing from Stivs who is in a very rich vein of form at the moment. I think it spells FUTURE (correction… KARP), although I might be wrong, however, this is an outstanding piece of art. The blue letters are perfectly accompanied by the red, pink, yellow and purple edges, lifting them out from the wall and the whole thing is bordered with a very clean triple line. Remarkable. and then as if that were not enough, Stivs has worked in a ton of fabulous drips. One of the very best of its type. Bravo!
An outstanding calligrapher who is possibly a little underrepresented in Natural Adventures is Stivs. This beautiful piece of calligraphic writing from not too long ago so perfectly demonstrates his extraordinary ability to paint such beautifully formed letters.

The whole shape and size of this piece is really most aesthetically pleasing and easy on the eye. The writing which spells STIVS is elaborate and complex, but in the hands of the artist is expertly executed. Note to self – time for a Stivs gallery?
Natural adventures
