Aw I remember this sort of thing. Why were some teachers (mostly PE teachers) such bullies?
I can relate to a lot of your story. It was the shouting and forcing us to do things I was scared of, and the appalling way they treated the weaker swimmers. You woul constantly be worried that you might get picked on next.
I was a fair swimmer, and great gymnast, but throughout I was terrified of all the PE teachers.
I find I fall to the shadorma when this happens. The tanka suited it perfectly, not least because presumably there were some tank suits around you? Ha ha

Incredible really. We had so many bully teachers (I went to a public school) who got away with some staggeringly awful things.

I suppose nowadays the kid would bring a lawsuit against the teacher!

I think most of my teachers would have been fired or in jail these days ( one did go to jail).

Forgive the formatting and the lapses in punctuation (not my strong point). Enjoy the memories! Ha! https://legerelibris.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/the-drowning-pool/

Oh yes, the shouting that echoed off those walls in the pool area. I hated all of it, actually – so contrary to my disposition.

Of course, I got carried away on my own memories instantly, but failed to say how much I like the piece.

Thank you. I had to make it a Tanka because it required a little more explanation.
