Preparing myself
for a disappointing night;
learned pessimism.
by Scooj
- As a lifelong Arsenal fan, I am used to the upset of disappointing European nights. The best form of protecting myself from any hurt is to enter into the spirit of things with very low expectations. Arsenal take on Chelsea in the Europa Leage final in the rather bizarre setting of Baku in Azerbaijan tonight, and in my mind we have already lost and I am trying to come up with a coping mechanism.
Expecting nothing is often the easiest way . . .

Set myself up nicely…fully disappointed.

As a neutral I was hoping for a good game and an Arsenal win
I was disappointed on both fronts . . .
There’s always next year
In the meantime bring on Saturday ‘YNWA’ . . .

For obvious reasons I’ll be supporting the Reds.

I didn’t see it, but sorry about the game. Darn that Hazard, and Giroud! What happened with Aubamayang and Lacazette?

Just not good enough on the night. Unai Emery has a lot of work to do. It might take a few years to become competitive. Auba and Lacazette were misfiring. On another night they might have had 2 each.

They had some real ups and downs during the PL season, that’s for sure. Maybe it’s just growing pains since Wenger stepped away.

It took Jurgen Klopp three seasons to restore Liverpool. I am hoping for the same.

Not going to lie, I quite like Klopp.

It is hard not to like him. Would love him at Arsenal.

I know that strategy well. If you expect the worst then you’ll be pleasantly surprised by reality.
