Baku haiku

Preparing myself

for a disappointing night;

learned pessimism.

  • As a lifelong Arsenal fan, I am used to the upset of disappointing European nights. The best form of protecting myself from any hurt is to enter into the spirit of things with very low expectations. Arsenal take on Chelsea in the Europa Leage final in the rather bizarre setting of Baku in Azerbaijan tonight, and in my mind we have already lost and I am trying to come up with a coping mechanism.

I am Stephen. I live in Bristol, UK. I decided to shorten my profile...to this: Wildlife, haiku, travel, streetart, psychogeography and my family. Not necessarily in that order.

      1. As a neutral I was hoping for a good game and an Arsenal win
        I was disappointed on both fronts . . .
        There’s always next year

        In the meantime bring on Saturday ‘YNWA’ . . .

      1. Just not good enough on the night. Unai Emery has a lot of work to do. It might take a few years to become competitive. Auba and Lacazette were misfiring. On another night they might have had 2 each.
