I was walking my dog down by Cumberland Basin today and spotted a human body on the far bank. I was going to call the police, but noticed that a couple of uniformed officers were on their way to investigate. Within ten minutes the rescue services had arrived on the scene, and they set about recovering the body.
I feel numb and shocked and terribly sad. It is an image I will find hard to forget, and of course there are all the unanswered questions about what led up to this tragic event.
Natural adventures 
Thinking of the young man’s family. Hope you’re okay, Stephen. Makes one want to go home and hug one’s loved ones.

Visceral shock is absolutely right. I hope not to be haunted by it for too long. It sits uncomfortably with me right now.

Really sorry to hear you had to witness this mate
Life can be so very hard even in the best of times
And these are definitely not the best of times
Taking a permanent decision to an impermanent problem will always be tragic for everyone involved
