I am Stephen. I live in Bristol, UK. I decided to shorten my profile...to this: Wildlife, haiku, travel, streetart, psychogeography and my family. Not necessarily in that order.

    1. The gunner in question was me. First game of five a side since the first lockdown. I coped very well with the fitness, but played like my laces were tied together. Absolutely terrible.

      1. Well I would guess you’re considerably fitter than you were when you last played football so give yourself a break and just try and enjoy kicking that ball again.
That way anything else is gravy . . .

  1. I remember a fathers vs sons friendly and many of us adults had forgotten that it’s a lot harder to kick a moving ball while in motion yourself. That’s when I learned that coaching the kids the finer points of striking a ball while standing still really doesn’t do them much good in a live game situation. Less practice more live scrimmaging. Let the game teach them how to play.
