I’ve been going through some old pictures from my iPhone today, and found a few street art images from a long while before I started this blog. This particular picture struck me, because I recently posted a 3Dom piece from this exact location.
3Dom, Stokes Croft, Bristol, July 2014
This work, also by 3Dom, was photographed in July 2014…it seems that this wall is his.
3Dom Mibsy tribute, Stokes Croft, Bristol, July 2014
There is also a subtle tribute to Mibsy. This is a nice work, but long since gone.
This mural recently (Nov/Dec 2015) appeared on the frequently renewed wall at the carriageworks in Stokes Croft.
Tom Miller, Stokes Croft, Bristol, December 2015
It is one of the more unusual works I have seen in the area. Surreal, and beautifully sprayed. It is outstanding.
Tom Miller, Stokes Croft, Bristol, December 2015
It appears to me signed by Miller, or Millen or something like that, but I have drawn a blank on any information about the artist. If anyone knows who it might be, please let me know and I will update the post.
Tom Miller, Stokes Croft, Bristol, December 2015
As with all works here, it will be gone soon, sprayed over by another artist, so I am glad to have captured this curiosity.
UPDATE – after some more research I have discovered that the artist is Tom Miller, a recent graduate of the University West of England. He has produced some wild prints and I am very tempted to buy one.
It is only right to mark my 50th street art post with my favourite stencil artist. JPS, an adopted son of Bristol is from nearby Weston-super-Mare, where several of his works adorn the holiday town streets.
JPS, Culver Street, Bristol, September 2015
This incredibly detailed stencil, ‘Spartacus’ is a tribute to the Welsh actor Andy Whitfield who played the star role in the Starz TV production of Spartacus. He died in 2011 aged 39 of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
JPS, Culver Street, Bristol, September 2015
I was lucky enough to photograph this work a day or two after it was completed on 13 April 2015. It is the detail of the clothing and belt that I think marks out JPS as an incredible talent.
Strictly speaking this is street art, because it is a painting on a street, however it is likely to be a precursor to the rather more edgy stuff we are used to these days.
Tony Giles, St Agnes
This small mural was painted by an artist, Tony Giles who lived in St Agnes from 1961 until his death in 1994. Originally from Taunton in Somerset he was known for his landscapes.
Tony Giles, St Agnes
I wonder if he lived in the house behind the wall where this mural is.
The figure always reminds me of the cartoon ‘Pearly Kings’ in Mary Poppins.
My wife told me yesterday about this very recent stencil work on the wall of the Highbury Vaults pub in Cotham. It is in good company, being just a few yards away from ‘Vandalism’ by Nick Walker (will post this soon).
Unify, High Kingsdown, Bristol, June 2016
The bubblegum boy is by Unify, an artist who appears to work in London mostly, but has done works around the world. I’ve not seen any others in Bristol, but that doesn’t mean they are not there.
Unify, High Kingsdown, Bristol, June 2016
It is difficult to find out much about Unify, although there is a website.

UPDATE – Somehow I lost all the original pictures of this piece, but have since photographed it again, and it is still in pristine condition. The original post was written in August 2015 and the photographs taken in June 2016.
