6253. M32 roundabout J3 (608)

Raid has slowed down a little, only a little mind, but his presence is felt whenever he paints one of his RAID writings. This one has to be marked out as being slightly different from his usual work on account of the inclusion of a character – a welcome addition.

The glaringly obvious feature of this piece is the camouflage fill, which is something I have seen quite a lot of, I would guess that it is probably easier to do than some fills, because the shapes and colour patchwork are quite random, and forgiving of little mistakes. The character is a bit of fun, but has very different characteristics to the confidence demonstrated in the writing. It will be interesting to see if Raid continues with the inclusion of characters. I noticed that his Instagram account appears to have disappeared, which is a pity.

I haven’t been posting nearly enough pieces by Mr Draws as I ought to have done, especially as I consider him to be one of a small band of artists who represent the beating heart of the Bristol street art scene. My archive is full of unposted work by Mr Draws, and I might have to do a trawl and put them all into one post.

This recent piece from the tunnel is really typical of his work. Some nice big letters, filled with a camouflage pattern and colour palette bounded by a thin yellow border. There are some nice white highlights with drips for good measure. A cracking piece from an artist who just keeps on plugging away.

5496. M32 Spot (170)

Since first appearing on my radar a few months back, Noise has been chugging away very nicely with reasonable regularity, sharing his large, chunky writing style in various spots around Bristol. This one has a camouflage fill, which is the third recent piece with a camouflage fill to appear on Natural Adventures in recent days, and the reason for that was a challenge organised by @worldwallstylers, encouraging artists from around the world to create a piece with a camouflage fill. It was great to see so many Bristol artists participating.

Noise has absolutely smashed it with this piece, with both the fill and the 3D effect with the strong blue shadow. The border and outlines are bold and strong, and the big, thick letters have a real presence. It is a pity about the bicycle in the shot, which almost looks a bit ‘arty’, but isn’t meant to be, but I suppose ‘street furniture’ is nothing new when photographing street art.

Below are the two other recent camouflage pieces meeting the World Wall Stylers challenge:

3089. Brunel Way bridge (51)

This is the third recent Kool Hand orangutan piece that I have seen and once again he is branching out into the use of patterned fills rather than the solid ones that have been such a central part of his past work.

The character’s face has been filled with what looks like an army print camouflage effect, but is probably just a random green and white pattern. I am enjoying watching Kool Hand adding a layer of sophistication to his pieces.
