4139. Cumberland Basin
This is a little Christmas piece from Soge, who has quite a quiet year in 2021, and is a welcome sight. There haven’t been as many Christmas themed pieces this year as I might have expected, but I haven’t been out too much last week so hope to stumble across a few more.
This is actually part of a collaboration with Hire, and the pair have painted quite a few times together in the past. Nicely designed and finished, this is a welcome return from Soge. Happy Christmas.
4138. Nelson Street (14)
Happy Christmas folks, a very special day for us, just the nuclear family, no visits, no visiting, just us. Over the last two years we have become used to each others’ company and generally get on surprisingly well, so being together today for our festivities is stress free. I am in between preparing the turkey and sorting vegetables and have a slot to do this quick post.
Two of Bristol’s finest artists, Tom Miller and Kin Dose (now referred to as Kin Official) have combined to produce this remarkable Christmas collaboration on Nelson Street.
On the left is a very special mural from Tom Miller, as imaginative as usual and brimming over with winter themes. I think that the figure is handling Christmas parcels, emblazoned with hearts. There is so much movement and colour as you might expect with Tom Miller. A wonderful piece.
Next to Tom’s piece is an incredible Grinch mural by Kin Dose, who really is one of my favourite artists in Bristol. His attention to detail and photo realism techniques are awesome. In this piece, I love the coronavirus Christmas decoration, so in keeping with the Grinch character.
A perfect Christmas collaboration. Once again may I wish you all a very happy day.

3413. M32 Spot (100)
It was great to see that Zace was getting into the Christmas spirit down at the M32 Spot with this alien face wearing a Father Christmas hat. One of the good things about 2020 for me has been the sheer number of new artists spraying their work in Bristol of which Zace was one.
I think the best part of these new artists is the diversity they bring. One might think that the ‘market’ was flooded, but as with all art, there are no limits to the variety of styles and subjects that people bring with them. I am really looking forward to watching Zace develop over the coming year.
3411. Dean Lane skate park (376)
There was quite a good show of Christmas pieces this year including this colourful beauty by Taboo in Dean Lane skate park. As we expect, Taboo’s unconventional writing style challenges us and pushed the boundaries of what we are accustomed to. I love that about his work, he really is leading the way by thinking outside the box.
Although his style is progressive, the format is more conventional with a character, in this instance Father Christmas, combined with the graffiti writing. Santa is looking a little worse for wear, enjoying some Christmas bubbly but the writing, spelling out TABOO, is uplifting and colourful to reflect the Christmas spirit. This is probably my favourite Christmas piece year.
3401. St Werburghs tunnel (216)
Holiday breaks are good for so many reasons, especially the opportunity to free up some time to do the things we love. There has been a big upsurge in productivity of street/graffiti art over the Christmas period in Bristol and my photograph folder for December is heaving. Having only seen a few pieces this year from Mr Sleven and Mr Klue, it was great to see this collaboration, the second in as many weeks from this pair in the St Werburghs tunnel.
These two create fully integrated collaborations, which I love, where their art becomes a synthesis of their styles, rather than two adjacent pieces in similar colour schemes. The Grinch has made a lot of appearances on the walls of Bristol this year, perhaps as a conscious/unconscious reference to COVID-19 spoiling things a bit. Here, Mr Sleven’s nicely drawn Grinch is emerging from a wispy Mr Klue atmosphere. This is a fine piece and there is a nice reference to COM.64 – the crew that these two belong to.
3398. Brunel Way bridge (83)
It is very difficult for me to keep up with the massive productivity of street/graffiti art in Bristol. As it is, I only post a fraction of the pieces I photograph here on Natural Adventures. The rest go into the archives, which is a real shame but that is how it is. Seasonal pieces, such as this one from Mr Draws are nearly always out of sync because I have a queue of pieces waiting to post – an artefact of the system I use.
I love this one from Mr Draws – it has a generous and kind spirit about it and manages to convey the moments of Christmas cleverly by incorporating Christmas puddings, lights and a Christmas tree. The letters are sharp, and it looks like Mr Draws has put a lot of love into this one. I only wish I had been able to post it at Christmas, but you’ll have to make do with it now.
