Rowzgraff, Dean Lane, Bristol, October 2025

It is not often that I post Halloween pieces in time for the festival, but fortunately this one by Rowzgraff was painted a little while ago and has made it through my pipeline process just in time. I am not familiar with the artist, who I believe was painting alongside Lis and Ozuk.s in a mini paint jam on the swimming pool wall in Dean Lane.

The Halloween piece is nicely worked with the letters ROWZ incorporating a happy pumpkin and a wizard’s hat. The whole piece is set on a starry night sky – just the thing to get you into the mood for tomorrow night. There will be more Halloween pieces to share, but they won’t feature here for a little while, such is the backlog.

Pekoe, Dean Lane, Bristol, September 2025

This small piece by Pekoe marks the return of her ‘XXX hates fascists’, theme, which in this instance declares that is it Bristol that hates fascists, and one can be on fairly safe ground that it is indeed the case. It would look odd if somebody raised a hand and said “well, actually, I quite like fascists” – we know that they are out there though.

The piece was painted for Dean Lane Hardcore, I think. I feel that I haven’t seen enough of Pekoe’s work this year, and there has been a period of quiet from the regular drumbeat of RBF (Resting Bitch Face) paint jams this year – Family life seems to be a factor for some members. As ever, I look forward to more from Pekoe.

It feels like Asre’s comeback is complete. He is painting pretty frequently all over Bristol, although he has switched in the large part from his character portraits to his writing, and appears to be enjoying it.

This is a particularly neat piece from Asre, with some great colours, and precision throughout. The letters are beautifully filled reds and oranges decorated with reversed-out spots. The bold black border is thick and strong, helping the letters to stand out. The piece is set on blue ‘clouds’ which also have strong black outlines – a typical element of Asre’s work. Lots more to come from the artist.

Dai Luk, Dean Lane, Bristol, October 2025

Although this piece by Dai Luk has been dogged by some silly kid, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to post it here. There is a serenity and lightness of touch in this illustrative character piece that is quite out of the ordinary.

This, I think, is the first piece I have seen by Dai Luk, who is a tattooist, like so many other street artists these days. A cross-legged figure sits in a meditative pose behind a large leaf, that might be symbolic of the body life, or at least that is what it says to me. I love the peace of the work and the soft colours. A fine mindful character piece.

It would seem that Taboo doesn’t paint all that often these days, or at least, not in the places that I frequent. Dean Lane Hardcore (DLH) is an annual opportunity for street/graffiti artists to do their stuff in a one-day skate festival atmosphere, and I think that Taboo painted this and one other piece at this year’s DLH.

Wall space might have been a bit of a premium, who knows, but Taboo has instead painted the floor of the skate park – perhaps with a view to his work being more likely to appear in skate videos. Taboo’s letters are written back to front (nothing is straightforward with this artist) but rather more conventional than his typical anti-style pieces. Great to see his work after a while.

Asre, Dean Lane, Bristol, September 2025

It would appear that the Asre comeback is complete. Although he is concentrating his efforts on his graffiti writing, Asre has also left us a couple of his character pieces to enjoy in recent weeks.

What I hadn’t realised from his last stint in Bristol, was that he is rather a talented writer. It is interesting that he keeps his writing and his character separate, and I’m not aware of any combination pieces from him. It might be that his large character faces simply don’t lend themselves very well to accompanying letters and are better left as standalone pieces. This writing, in pinks, purples and blues, is very neat and tidy, demonstrating great can control. The reversed-out stars and spots are nicely done. Lots more to come from Asre.

Klashwhensober, Dean Lane, Bristol, September 2025

Klashwhensober has been missing in action for months, for very good reasons I am sure, and he has returned with a gentle flurry of pieces appearing all around the town, as if he was never absent.

This is a really nicely crafted piece of graffiti writing, and has a clarity and sense of purpose not always present in Klashwhensober’s work. The letters spell out Sober and contain an interesting selection of colours that shouldn’t really work well together but somehow do. Great to see him back.

Chill, Dean Lane, Bristol, September 2025

Chill left Bristol a little over a year ago, having been a prolific member of the PWA crew, so it was wonderful to see this small piece in Dean Lane skate park, which I think was painted for, or at, the Dean Lane Hardcore (DLH) event (an annual skate and music extravaganza).

This piece features two of his cheeky characters side by side with tongues hanging out. That Chill is able to duplicate these faces with such ease demonstrates his skill as an artist and steady can control. I miss these characters.

Creamylines, Dean Lane, Bristol, September 2025

It seems as though Creamylines has found a new lease of life, and although the last piece I posted by him was actually a repeat (thank you, Paul H for pointing this out), this is a spanking new piece in Dean Lane (one of several scattered around the city). This slab of concrete in the skate park lends itself really well to Creamylines’ bounded work (which makes me wonder whether he has ever painted up Purdown, it might suit him).

Instead of the more familiar portrait orientation, this is a landscape piece, that gives Creamylines more scope to broaden out his scene. Everything you’d want to see from this uplifting view is there. Water in the foreground, passing through to woodlands and fields and houses, all bathed in the light of a golden sun, with a couple of clouds and some birds. Calmness and joy.

Bogat, Dean Lane, Bristol, September 2025

Bogat only paints occasionally, but his pieces are instantly recognisable and impactful. He is not a ‘high-end’ character artist, but he manages to capture a down-to-earth style, without which the diversity of street art in Bristol would be all the poorer.

In this piece, the pink-faced character appears to be snarling a little. There is some nice shading and lines, especially round the cheeks. The ‘Bennie’ hat with the word BOGAT is nicely painted, but it is the zigzag eyes that grab the attention. I think the piece was painted for the Dean Lane Hardcore event held a week or so ago.
