Evey has been out and about much more this summer, or at least that is how it feels, and with each outing her work is improving. Her letters are large and obvious, spelling out EVEN, with a focus on the variation of fills.

This one was painted as part of a collaborative wall and is notable for its horizontal fills of at least six colours. There is something not quite consistent with the drop-shadow on the stars, but that is a small detail, all in all this is a bright, fun piece from Evey.

It is quite by accident, but wholly appropriate, that I should follow up a piece by Bnie with a piece by Evey. The two artists are part of the RBF crew and often paint alongside one another.

I consider this to be Evey’s best piece that I have seen so far. The green palette set on the red background works exceptionally well and makes it difficult not to notice the piece. Large bold letters, filled with a clever array of greens and a thick black 3D border combine well. There are some nice sharp lines, in particular at the base of the first ‘E’ and the white highlight is subtle, but helps to lift the letters. Upwards and onwards… it is great to watch on at the improvement as it happens.

4414. Greenbank (41)

Evey has been rather busy this spring with her friends from the RBF crew, and it is always such a pleasure to see her work. Evey has a rather simple style, that is always full of colour and seems always to have a happy disposition, bringing smiles to faces.

I don’t quite know why Evey spells out ‘Even’ with here letters, and it is quite unusual to have repeated letters in a tag (unless they are together, like an ‘OO’ for example). In this piece, Evey has draped her colourful letters with icing and some hundreds and thousands, giving them a celebratory feel.

4210. Cumberland Basin

Paint jams can be difficult for me to cover, because there will always be several artists to write about and I am left with a bit of a dilemma; do I cover all the artists in one post or do a post for each artist at risk of leaving someone out? On this RBF collaborative wall I opted for the latter, but happily with this lovely piece by Evey I have managed to post all the pieces from the paint jam.

The thing I love most about Evey’s work is the uncomplicated optimism it conveys. The colours, style and hearts in this piece ooze goodness in a difficult world, and we would do well to be reminded that there are a great many things in life to be grateful for. I think that this piece is one of my favourites from Evey, it is nicely done and the fills smooth and confident.

I haven’t posted many pieces by Evey, mainly because I haven’t actually seen all that many. She tends to paint with other Resting Bitch Face (RBF) crew members, including Pekoe and Bnie, which was the case on this wall.

What I particularly like about Evey’s work is its simplicity and femininity (without being girly, if that makes sense). Her letters are nice and organic, but it is her fills, which are so often full of happiness, that show off her creativity. Although her work is still developing, there is something about it that I find incredibly attractive.

3087. M32 Cycle path (67)

Like so many things, once you get your eye in, you up your game. I am now noticing more pieces by Evey and realise that I probably have a fair few in my archives as well. I have known about her work for a little while, but it wasn’t until her BLM collaboration piece under Brunel Way recently that I wrote my first Evey post. This is the second.

Evey’s EVEN letters are well proportioned and the there is a nice twist with the second E reversed. Because I am teaching myself to spray paint I tend to notice little mistakes and the blue shading on the second E is slightly wrong which confuses the eye a little. It is Evey’s fills that I absolutely love though – maybe it is the natural subject of leaves and plants, but there is something very comforting one optimistic about them, and that is a good thing in these troubled times. Looking forward to posting more pieces from Evey.
