6438. Dean Lane skate park (767)

It would appear that Awkward is going through a bit of a purple patch, having made only occasional appearances for several years, he is now painting regularly in the Deaner. This one was part of a wider collaboration, or at least it was painted at the same time as some other pieces on the wall.

In Awkward, perhaps more than with other artists, we see a strong crossover between his art and music – perhaps Benjimagnetic could give him a run for for his money – and indeed Awkward promotes Sentinel793 (Benjimagnetic) in this piece. The two cartoon characters appear to be rather ghoulish, with empty eye-sockets that are connected by wisps of smoke. Nice work from Awkward, although it might not be to everyone’s taste.

In recent months, there have been a lot of these ghoul character pieces appearing all over the place, and I feel that now is a good time to introduce them to Natural Adventures. The design, that has a Celtic knot look about it, is by Full Time Ghoul (FTG).

The main concentration of FTG’s pieces are along the cycle path bordering the River Avon, and I look forward to sharing some of these with you in the New Year. Is this the ghost of Christmas past, present or yet to come I wonder? Or perhaps just a little bit of knotty ghoul fun.

Happy Christmas folks. I hope I will have a moment to post tomorrow, but Don’t hold your breath.

3995. M32 Spot (120)

It takes a rather silly person or one who holds respect to paint over a 3Dom piece, and fortunately, Dott Rotten falls into the latter category. This is a magnificent and quite large ‘Spoilt’ piece at the top end of Stapleton Road by the M32 Spot.

The quality of the piece is right out of the top drawer and in addition to the superb writing Dott Rotten has treated us to the addition of some ghoulish scenery and a ghostly character. There is so much going on throughout the complex piece in three spaces – in the foreground is the writing sitting on a cloudy red and blue layer, and in the distance is the scene described earlier. A truly great piece.

1159. Brunel Way bridge (2)

This is a nice witty piece from Feek as part of the Halloween ASK collaboration at this spot. The ASK crew have been very busy recently. This piece has a real comic book feel to it and is by one of the artists whose work I don’t see too often – the last piece was on one of the ramps at Dean Lane skate park.

Feek has painted a ghoulish Miss Millies (a poor man’s KFC, if there is such a thing) waitress serving up body parts, with a speech bubble saying ‘youur piece sssucks‘ a reference not only to the food pieces being served up, but also a playful jibe at his crew mates and the pieces they are working on.

I have just noticed another thing about Feek’s work that I have never noticed before, but it would appear that he nearly always includes a speech bubble as if he wants to give his characters a voice. I’d really like to see more of his work on Bristol’s streets.

1054. M32 roundabout J3 (49)

The once highly productive Laic217 seems to have taken his foot off the gas a little recently, which has allowed me a bit of a breather. Maybe he has a new job or maybe he has been away, either way it is good to see him hitting the streets again. This is a reasonably recent piece on the M32 roundabout in which he reverts to his format of writing his name and incorporating a character.

This is a nicely sprayed piece, and shows just how far this artist has come since some of his work I posted about eighteen months or so ago. The colour selection works well with the rather ghoulish subject matter.

On my way to work this morning I saw another brand new piece, so keep your eyes peeled for this in the coming days.
