Lis, Montpelier Park, Bristol, September 2025

I was lucky enough to meet Lis for the first time this week while she was painting with Weas(el) on the M32 roundabout. Of course, I immediately recognised her work and introduced myself. Lis gave me a great big hug, which was very sweet and kind. I guess that what I write here on the pages of Natural Adventures can land well with the artists themselves, which gives me a warm glow. We chatted for a while and I told her how much I admired her work and have been enjoying her journey as a street artist.

In this piece she has reverted to her ‘sure thing’ mushroom design, which is now more confidently presented than some of her earlier ‘shrooms (see below), and more in keeping with using spray paint. I love the swirly designs on the cap, and the gills are nicely represented. Looking forward to lots more from Lis.

Stivs, Montpelier Park, Bristol, August 2025

I don’t visit Montpelier Park all that often, but every time I do go, there seems to be new stuff there, so maybe I ought to increase the frequency of my trips so that I don’t miss out on beauties like this one from Stivs.

Stivs is something of an enigma. His work is so varied, he is unbelievably talented, and you never really quite know what he is going to come up with next. He used to be heavy on the calligraffiti, but these days he is painting more of these portrait pieces. This one is a real stunner, and drifting ever-closer to photorealism. I am very much enjoying the ride.

6893. Montpelier Park

Nice One, Montpelier Park, Bristol, April 2025

Oof. This is a beauty from Nice One, probably the most original and exciting artist to have come onto my radar in the last year or so. Before I started recording his work, I suspect I missed a whole ton of his pieces, which is deeply regrettable.

This is a superb skull piece painted in his sketchy style and accompanied by a hint of his NICE letters at the bottom of the piece. There is so much depth and texture in this piece, and the hatching gives it that sketchbook quality. I need to catch up with the artist again, it has been a while, as I have a whole load of questions to ask him about his work. Great stuff.

6545. Montpelier Park

Endz, Montpelier Park, Bristol, November 2024

I was lucky enough to bump into Endz just as he was finishing this piece off, and unfortunately for him, I delayed the completion by about twenty minutes, but we had a fun chat. I had to confess that I hadn’t seen any of his Endz pieces, or that if I had, they were deeply buried in my archives.

This is a large piece, larger than it might appear on a screen. The colourful letters spell ENDZ and have a fairly loose feel about them. The pastel shades are bound within a red border and feel bright, even on a dreary day, thanks to the white background. This is certainly an unusual piece of writing which suits the location really well.

6398. Montpelier Park

Fudge, Montpelier Park, Bristol, September 2024

It is such a good feeling when new graffiti writers on my radar start to appear once, then twice and then all of a sudden everywhere. Examples might include Raid, Dirtygypo, Grimes, Jevoissoul, Nips, Butch and so on, and now I am hoping that Fudge will be joining their ranks.

Her last piece (and first I became aware of) was on the M32 roundabout and included a large eyed cartoon character. This one in Montpelier Park is a straightforward piece of writing, but there is something rather pleasing about her letters and her fills too are rather nice and dreamy. I’ll be looking out for more from Fudge.

6384. Montpelier Park

Le Imposter Design, Montpelier Park, Bristol, September 2024

As somebody who spends quite a lot of my spare time hunting down street/graffiti art, I find I get a great amount of pleasure when I find things that are slightly out of the ordinary, and this piece, the second I have posted by Le Imposter Design, is definitely out of the ordinary.

Her small designs tend to be quite low down – I wonder if she sits while she is painting, because otherwise this would be back-breaking work. Here we have a little window into a world of toadstools painted with brushes and plenty of fine detail. I suspect I might have another of her fungus pieces in my archive, but it is un-signed. I really hope that Le Imposter Design continues with these little gems, because they offer something quite unique on the Bristol scene.

Butch, Montpelier Park, Bristol, August 2024

Here we have yet another artist making a debut on Natural Adventures, in a year notable for the number of artists coming onto my radar for the first time. There is something very appealing about the simplicity and modesty of this piece, which reminds me a lot of Biers’ work, when I first came across him almost a decade ago.

Butch is a member of the PLB stable, and although I have probably seen his work before, this piece has elevated him in my consciousness. I like the letter shapes and the way that they are stacked over one another, casting shadows. The colour works well on quite a messy background, and the whole thing, although a ‘quick one’, made me smile. Look out for more from Butch.

6333. Montpelier Park

Nice One, Montpelier Park, Bristol, June 2024

I am taking a bit of a risk with posting this piece, because I am not 100% certain that it is by who I think it is. My guess would be that the artist is Nice One, as it certainly has the same style as other signed portraits about the place. The piece has been lurking in my archive since June, because I wasn’t too sure who to attribute it to.

I like the portrait very much, and would guess that the artist (if it is Nice One) might have had some art schooling of some kind… since, although it is rather stylised, the proportions are nicely worked. The piece was modestly ticked away in the far corner of the wall in one of the quieter graffiti spots in Bristol. Nice one is building a more than respectable portfolio and I would expect and hope to see a whole lot more coming from the artist over the next few weeks and months.

j9449j and Solar, Montpelier Park, Bristol, June 2024

More and more these days, writers are stacking their graffiti writing, one piece on top of the other. I am not sure why they do this, perhaps it is all about proportions and wall space. Ultimately what it means is that you get two pieces for the price of one, and this double header is by j9449j (who keeps changing his handle on Instagram, so this will have to do) and Solar.

This spot is one I don’t get to all that often, but it is always worth it, because every time I have been recently, there has been something different on display. j9449j has painted some letters, which I struggle to decipher, but his organic and unique fills give away his identity. Solar, was recently the subject of a gallery I pulled together, and this anti-style writing flows beautifully, so typical of his work. A nice duo to stumble across.

6064. Montpelier Park

Now this is a rare thing indeed, a piece by DNT, an artist who hasn’t painted too much in Bristol over the last few years, but who at one time was one of the central artists painting in the Stokes Croft area of the city. His unusual and creative pieces have always been on the margins of the mainstream art we see so much of here.

This piece was painted alongside Klashwhensober recently, and is most welcome. The character is a bull, smoking a rather large joint, reminding me a little of the ‘Camberwell carrot’ from the outstanding film ‘Withnail and I’. There is detail and accuracy in the piece that gives away his skills and experience as an established artist. I sincerely hope that this might be a renaissance from one of my favourite artists.
