It is always nice to see a new piece from Rapt and I have become rather fond of his little motifs that he incorporates alongside his letters. In this piece he has painted a small yin-yang to the right of the letters that provides extra interest.
The letters are nicely done with three horizontal layers of shading fill in varying hues of pink. Rapt has also included some nice little clusters of coloured circles and stars that I think works really well and is quite an original decoration. A fine piece of work.
The easing of lock down (and I know I have flogged this particular horse to death) has seen the arrival of an ultra busy, ultra inspired period of street art in Bristol. It seems that all the artists that have been hitting the walls hard have been doing some creative thinking while they have been at home.
This lovely piece in St Werburghs tunnel from Rapt is neat and tidy and has the addition of a little character to the left, looking a lot like Snoopy. The dog is smoking a cigarette and wearing a hat with the words ‘Doggy Style’ written across it. This piece was part of a collaborative effort, with Elvs making up the other half (coming soon). Giants awaking from their slumbers.
This is the second piece recently painted by Rapt in St Werburghs tunnel of at least three I know about from March. The Newport artist paits alongside Elvs and his style is characterised by the upside down T and the very clear lettering.
All the basic elements of a developing writer are here, a nice design, imaginative background, nice fills with some creativity. I look forward to seeing the artist develop all of these skills. I believe alcohol might have been involved in the general concept of the piece.
Although I have seen a few pieces by Rapt recently, this is my first post featuring the artist from Newport across the Severn Estuary. He seems to favour St Werburghs tunnel and I think he probably lift-shares with Elvs, as they are often to be found painting side by side.
Rapt has a strong and bold writing style and tends to stick to his basic font which includes an upside down ‘T’ at the end of it. In this example he has some nice cracks in the lettering, some great shading and bullet holes and blood for good measure. Look out for more from this artist.
