This is a pretty difficult damp wall to paint, but that didn’t stop Pura Decadencia and some friends from giving it a go a few weeks back, and because turnover here is very slow, her work is still there to enjoy.

The chrome letters in this piece are accompanied by a red drop shadow and bordered with a thin yellow strip. Each of the letters is split with a red line and little ‘rivets’ either side, giving the look of steel plates hanging together, a device used by quite a lot of writers, and a really effective one. There is a white plasma bolt running through the letters, adding a little bit of extra interest, but not detracting from the big bold letters themselves. Nice work from Pura Decadencia.

This is the third piece by Butch that I have posted, and although I can’t put my finger on exactly why, I really like what I see. There is a consistency to the letters from piece to piece, which means that the main focus is always likely to be on the fills and background.

This work by Butch, is on the cusp between casual throw up and a polished tight piece, which is an interesting space to inhabit, and I see that there is potential to create some high class finishing, but perhaps not the desire to go full-on high-end. The letters are composed of solid ‘plates’ of light blue and dusky yellow, riveted together, a device used by some artists, and a very effective one too. This is great work from the PLB graffiti writer.

This is another outstanding piece of writing from Kosc in his current series of greyscale pieces. In this piece, we have a familiar element of styling in the shape of ‘rivets’ holding the ‘metal’ pieces of the letters in place. This is a technique that the artist has used quite a lot in the past.

These letters are strong, solid and uniform, and generally have a presence – some pieces just ooze style and confidence, and this is one of them. I have to say that I am very much enjoying this greyscale series… more to come I hope.

Sometimes it is possible to be completely ‘graffiti blind’, and when I was admiring this piece, but trying to work out the artist, DJ Perks arrived to photograph some other pieces on this wall. This piece was obviously classy, but I couldn’t work out who it was by, DJ Perks instantly said it was by Kosc. Of course it was. I just didn’t see it at first. My credibility was shot down in flames, but it happens sometimes. Not seeing the wood for the trees.

At least I had recognised that it was a classy piece, which it most certainly is. Kosc has written under another name in the past, and there are some giveaway clues that this was his work, in the ‘riveting’ used in some of the letters to ‘hold them together’. Great colour transitions and letter shapes. Pure class.

Relatively speaking, Rezwonk has had a quiet twelve months. Prior to the first lockdown a year ago, there was no stopping him and his collaborations with Decay and Nightwayss were a regular occurrence… it felt like barely a week would pass without at least one new ‘REZER’ gracing a Bristol wall somewhere. He has been missed, so seeing that he appears to be ramping things up again is pleasure to my eyes.

This recent piece was part of a collaborative wall that was long overdue on this particular site which hadn’t changed for an eternity. This is a beautiful and technically accomplished piece in which he revisits his theme if incorporating rivets in to his letters, as if this were some large metalwork sculpture. The colours work nicely and there is a special something that makes it rather compelling. Great work, keep it up.
